Match report and other nonsense for 29/10-2026 from Sean, Ref Extrodinaire
Well besides the usual bombings, murder, mayhem and train wrecks. With the whole world holding its breath awaiting whatever crazy shit Donnie Trump will say or do next. The only thing bothering a group of over the hill piss up artists on the patio post game on Thursday was the price of Gurkha pickles.
Having spent most of my days across the pond I thought a Gurkha was a type of Indian soldier who fought in the British army around WW1. My Iranian wife makes pickled vegetables call Torshi. Majid probably eats a handful before coming to Polideportivo to argue the finer point of walking football rules with Jon.
I am wondering now if anything with some spices or flavor even originated in the rainy, windy Isles on the western edge of Europe. Where everything was boiled or fried until any flavor was eliminated.
Anyway enough ramblings about the world and pickles.
Once again a bunch of geriatric football descended on Polideportivo Benalmadena on Thursday morning. A beautiful blue sky and sunshine greeted them.
It was good to see the returning to play of Alex the Argentina maestro and Ian who’s still working, to afford the cost of Gurkhas in Inglaterra.
The teams were selected to be evenly matched. It’s was just a coincidence the slightly stronger side was in favor of the team selector found himself on.
Blacks lead by the aforementioned selector Day-Vee the Fox, Pete the Cornwall bone crusher, and the Juking Scot Joe thru the middle. The South Dublin menace , Daz, did a shift in goal then transformed into a roaming winger in the 2nd half. Supper striker H up front and the mad scientist Ian sticking a leg in where needed. The Swiss phantom ,Klausner , at the back. Neutralized the threat of the Bambster.
For Reds “our Keef” tried to control his charges consisting of Paul of the new knee, which hasn’t improved him speed wise, the trolling,Pete Fish, on which ever wing he choose.
Trumps man in Benalmadena Terry passing and gliding and ruminating over the price of pickles. Your truely spreading my telescope legs in all directions, big Graham making strides to catch Fez in the scoring rankings and of course spreading good will and positive feedback upfront was the Bambster.
Blacks took control early with Scotsman ,juking Joe, running a muck in the middle, at the back and wherever he choose. Dave foxes skipped his way around the field while ,the Cornish bone crusher, made his presence felt all around. The 1st goal came in the 2nd period or quater a grass cutting shot from Joe. 1-0 Blacks. Despite Reds best or lack of effort they could only muster up a few shots which generally ventured skyward or towards the Playa in Malaga.
Another goal by the skipping Fox 2-0 Blacks. Reds with Trumps man in Benalmadena, Terry, struggled to contain the marauding Blacks. Up front for Blacks H attempted to relive the glory of his almost hat trick of two weeks ago. H doing him best Bambi imitation, of hiding upfront in an effort to allude the Red defense.
But alas no glory this week
. In the 3rd period of the 4 quarters, The South Dublins menace, Daz, now on sabbatical from his goal keeping career, broke down the right side and smashed a toe poke past a floundering keeper, this match reporter, into the Reds goal.
At some point in the 3rd period, The Brambster, finally escaped the clutches of Klaus and found himself helping a past from Big Graham into the Blacks goal. 3-1 Blacks. But Reds hearts and dreams of a comeback were soon dashed when, the skipping Fox score yet another. 4-1 Blacks
The game was now truly beyond the capability of Reds too rescue. When late in the 4th period a fifth goal was added by the South Dublins menace. The game was officiated over, extremely fairly by virgin ref, Fezz. This shy unassuming man was subject to criticism and verbal abuse by non other than fellow referee legend the skipping Fox.
A collection will take place on Monday offset the cost of therapy for Fezz.
As alway no animals were interfered with in the making this football extravaganza. This reporter will be unavailable for commenting on next week’s games. As a trip to a cold, grey, rainy place, Dublin, is required of him.
Until next time ya’ll.
Ohh… Don’t forget, no footie on Monday its half term
