In his own words!

Before we criticise Bambi and his playing skills, let’s just take a minute to recognise that he’s been quietly helping Fish to mark out pitches over the last few months and now that Fish is on holiday the apprentice has stepped up and ensures we all have pitches to play on, balls to kick and goalie gloves waiting for us.

So a big thanks to Fish who just does this all the time but well done Bambi for stepping up.

Yet again game 1 was played but nobody wants to take ownership to write a report.

As they say never let the facts get in the way of a good story, well I’ve no idea if it was a good game and the facts are few and far between.

I can report that we had a good turnout of 8v9 and part time keeper Steve reverted back to being a ref

The score was 1-0 blacks, 3-2 to reds but finally 6-5 blacks.

Bambi was heard uncharacteristically making a short rallying speech of “Let’s get this passing game going” which registered with Boris at least.

I’ve no idea what colour all these players were wearing but goals were scored by:

Ton penalty
Paulo
Ken
Ian X2
Robert X2
Alan Lamb X2
Steve
Martyn

Bambi hit the post 3 times and Geoff made some good saves

Boris apparently was MoM again

It’s surely time a trainee reporter stepped up to ensure a more accurate account of the game

Game 2 saw some old faces returning, we had Dave and Terry joining Thursday regular Eddie from our sister club in Calahonda and founder member Keith has returned from his travels.

We lined up 8v9 with blacks having the extra player, when initially announced as 9v9 a 6-0 win to reds was predicted by Daz

Thanks to Bambi our pitch was as long as could be and with plenty of bodies at times it was a bit frantic.

A bad pass out by the keeper set blacks up and Calahonda Dave (Dave C) took full advantage to score, 1-0 blacks

Dave 🚖 was adjudged to have entered his penalty area giving blacks the chance to double the score from the spot, but the chance was spurned.

Reds were pushing and with Colin in goal he wasn’t able to play his usual deep defensive role so when the ball broke to Dave C with not a red in sight he had the easiest of tasks to slot the ball through Colins legs. 2-0 blacks at the halfway stage.

Now your reporter wouldn’t want to highlight a team in dark colours being ahead at halftime only for reds to overtake that score late on, but we’ll see

Reds found their way back into the game when John encroached into his area and Fez managed to score his penalty past Eddie in goal.

With Daz marauding down the wing and Mercedes nipping around for blacks feeding balls into Alan, John and Lawrence reds were backs against the wall at times with some calamitous defending by Colin and Dave 🐝

Keith and Dave 🚖 were doing their best to encourage some quality out of their team with Terry and Prak on the wings finding 🚖 and Mark inside with Fez playing his usual advanced role up top keeping Tommy company.

Hang on a second is the comeback on, it is, Fez scores his second.

Time to push for the winner, but who wants it?

A corner to reds, Fez pings in the ball, it’s in the net but the ref seems confused, was there encroachment or a foul, he debates with his VAR team and awards the goal to 🚖

Incredible scenes, the team in red loosing at halftime have reversed the score and are now winning and hang on to record a 3-2 victory
