Match reports by Colin
We gradually ease ourselves back into September and the resumption of Walking Football.
Reporting back for his first game was official photographer Frank
The game on Monday against Stamford has left a couple of injuries with Dave Cab dropping to the slower game sporting a cracking bruise on the back of his calf and Dave Bee unavailable.
We played a 5 aside and 6 aside game
A brief report for the slow game where the result was reported as 9 (nine) v 2 in favour of the reds despite an early goal for the blacks to commence the scoring and by Steve’s own admission Blacks were in the game until they put him in goal!
With Steve in goal and an apparent lack of defence reds took total control.
One player commented that Keith was particularly on 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 with ⚽⚽⚽⚽⚽
The videos recorded by Frank do show that the game was being played totally by the rules and Walking Football was being demonstrated to it’s best, especially to Toni’s family with his young granddaughter watching from the sidelines as he rolled back the years and demonstrated to his wife why she should let him out of the kitchen twice a week
Over to game 2 ref’d by Colin carrying his own calf strain the teams set off at a sensible pace given the heat and lack of regular exercise for most for 2 months.
The first goal was scored unsurprisingly by Fez 🐶 but the score remained 1-0 blacks for over half a game.
Running gradually snuck in with a free kicks being awarded but the scoring picked up in the last 15 minutes.
Fez 🐶 scored a second quickly replied to by Dave 👑 before Fez 🐶 completed his hat trick and Rory 🐯 made it 4-1 blacks.
A long punt by Tommy in the reds goal was cleverly deflected by Dave 🦊 and it’s 4-2 black to conclude the game with the usual retirement to Grada8 Sport Bar for beers and Olives
