Colins corner
Game 2 was a tight 6 aside game with much energy, many shots off target, some running, some tackling, needed a referee at times and a calculator for Keith “I didn’t touch it 4 times” so he can remember how many 3 is.
It ended 1-0 reds with Darren turning his defender and scoring an early goal that was never added to mostly because of poor shooting and some good saves
Match report from game number 1 by your correspondent AI Adio
It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen as the players strode onto the hallowed turf of the polideportivo. * It was an 11 o’clock kick off actually….
8 blacks lined up against 9 Reds in this clash of the titans, each side having the benefit of a new player, Steve for the blacks and Craig for the Reds.
Blacks lined up with Paul in goal, H and Boris forming the blacks back line Mercedes, our world cup player, Gert, Steve and Geoff in midfield, and arch inspirational consultant, Bambi up front.
Reds lined up with everybody all over the place.
Reds, playing some nice football, opened the scoring with a vicious shot from Ton. It wasn’t too long before the blacks equalised, with new boy Steve scoring following a corner.
I have to point out that poetic licence has been used with regard to the scorers.
Mercedes then scored with a rasping shot that almost decapitated the goalie, Fred. This was too much for Welsh Steve, who decided that it might be a good idea to try to get the ball between the goalposts rather than his usual, trying, and succeeding in keeping Doug, the apprentice ballboy and cameraman, busy. No one was more surprised than Doug as he ran off into the distance to collect Steves shot, only for it to nestle in the back of the net.
Mercedes than hit another glorious strike to retake the lead for the blacks. The Reds talisman Ken, then bought the teams level with a glorious toe poke from all of 6 yards. It was no more than he deserved for all his efforts, collecting at least a hat trick of hitting the post and going wide.
As the blacks took a 4-3 lead, Fred, resplendent in his arsenal shirt, was thinking “Oh no, not again” , thinking back to his beloved Arsenals 4-3 defeat to the mighty Exeter City on Tuesday night in the U-21s cup. (Told you I would get it in, Pete).
In Fergie time of Fergie time, Welsh Steve broke a habit of several lifetimes and hit the target again and the game finished all level at 4 apiece.
