Colins Corner

Despite some shocking weather in Sunny Spain just recently we were pleasantly surprised to be playing on a warm sunny morning

Game 2 absent it’s 2 powerhouse players of Fez and Dave 🚖 meant the game was going to involve familiar faces in new roles.

Colin in defence was a little lost given he didn’t have an obvious target man to mark, Tommy ended the match as centre forward but Alvin was still penalised for running so some things stayed the same 😅

A change to the line ups saw Steve ref being replaced by Henning but we were an even 7 aside.

Neither team had a natural goalkeeper so the communal gloves were a joy to wear and the next pandemic could very well be growing inside them as we speak 😜

Nobody really took the game by the scruff of the neck and the first goal was very fortuitous, Mark bearing down on the reds goal took a speculative shot just as Tommy was putting in the block which resulted in the ball ballooning up and with the shortest keeper in goal the ball managed to drop over Alvins head into the net

1-0 blacks

With no target man to mark, Colin drifted around the pitch and stood with hands on hips when the ball switched ends and Alan had all the time in the world to collect the ball around the halfway line and compose himself to slot home the equaliser 1-1

Blacks restored their lead when reds keeper Alvin presented the ball to Mark, who had enough time to write a lovely thank you card before slotting home his second. In itself it was a bad mistake but it was preceded by Alvin presenting the ball to Mercedes first but she spurned her gift 2-1 blacks

Reds had the perfect chance to equalise when Henning decided penalty areas were only there to use the pitch markers up and gamboled happily around the area like it was his personal fifedom

Tim in goal looked nervous, still wondering why he’s in the faster game but fellow Leeds fan Alan managed to shoot wide and the score remained 2-1

Tommy by now was centre forward for reds and linked up well with John and took the back of the net off nearly with a thundering strike 2-2

The game was played at a good level and ref John didn’t have too many decisions to make and it ended in a draw

Daves Dawdlings

With the sun beaming down and little wind, Game 1 got underway.
Quickly the Blacks go one up. Alan 🇨🇦 deflected shot hits the back of the net.
Immediately the Reds respond. Paulo 🇵🇹 hits a hopefully ball but deflects off H into the Blacks goal.
1-1
Bambi strikes on goal. Ton saves well.
The Blacks are now getting into some rhythm and passing the ball well but shots on goal only seem to find Red Gunner Fred’s legs.
Into the 2nd quarter, both sides make goal goalkeeper changes.
Good play by Ian 🔬and Paulo 🇵🇹 on the right feed the ball to Bambi, he finds the net.
Reds 2-1
Blacks go forward only for Dave 🦉 to be thwarted by the Milky Bar Kid.
Fred yet again keeps the Blacks out. He looks down at his legs. Your ok Fred 🧩there still there.
Ian strikes Ton saves. There has to be another goal!
Into the 3rd quarter.
Red Bambi has a good shot saved. Blacks just can’t get passed, you know who… Red Fred 🧩
Blacks pull one back. Dave 🦉 getting forward more, prods the ball home following a mistake in the Reds defence.
Now 2-2
Klaus making good saves in the Red goal then misjudged a shot from Pete 🐟. It falls to Dave 🦉. He rarely makes mistakes.
Blacks lead 3-2.
Into the final quarter.
Terrific move by the Reds. Graham 🍽 out of defence to Ian 🔬who places the ball onto Paulos 🇵🇹 toe and hits the ball wide. Head in hands moment.
Now Fred 🧩 goes in goal for the Reds. He saves two certain goals.
Blacks playing simple one-twos find Robert 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 on the right. He hits a ball across goal to the waiting Ton. A beautiful strike into the top right corner.
Blacks go 4-2 up.
Into the final minutes. Paulo 🇵🇹 hits a ball that is going over head height. Before the Ref, (who was said he had a great game, could blow the whistle), Boris 👨🏻‍🦳took the ball out of mid air. He said it was an age ghing ! Penalty to the Reds. H 👮‍♂️ decided to fill the left side of his goal, leaving a huge space on his right side. Bambi strikes to the goalkeeper’s right. Goal.
That was pretty much the last play of the game. Blacks run out winners 4-3.

MOTM….. Gunner Fred.
He possible stopped 4 goals.
