No Frank today so no game action of note, no guest reporters so it’s all happening here and now on the day of the matches. I have taken notes from Dave 🦊 who ref’d game 1 and will report on game 2, which had its controversial moments.

Dave admits he was making notes during the game so he may have missed a few things 😉

The windy conditions needed some good saves by Ton in reds goal sporting his pyjama bottoms, protected by Boris solid at the back.

After a goalless first quarter Blacks had 2 shots by Ken but still no goals.
Reds motivational speaker Bambi was sending poor back heels everywhere but still no goals by half time

Graham wishing to forget the North London Derby played a silky 1 2 off his own legs that came to nothing.

A red disallowed goal by virtue of Bambi being in the area and Pete 🐟 making a good save from Dave 🐝 meant still no goals with 15 to go

Reds great move produced a great save by H, but finally the deadlock was broken with a good move by Dave 🐝 squaring the ball to Bambi to score.

A blacks goal by Jens was disallowed for encroaching in the area leaving it a narrow 1-0 win to Reds

Game 2 as observed at times from the sidelines by me, Colin

Bob, one of our guests from Thursday’s Dawlish game joins us this week as he delays returning to the UK.

The new overhead height rule seems to be causing more confusion than clarity as ref John interpreted every high ball as deliberate. Some were, some weren’t so he just blew up for all!

Blacks broke the deadlock with a pile driver of a shot from Daz that was responded to by Kevo’s own well taken shot.

A free kick worked itself out wide to Prak unmarked with plenty of space to pass the ball into the net to restore blacks lead 2-1

Now, if a ball is hit hard going high but bulges the net is it a goal? Apparently not and Dave 🚖 yet again had to accept the referees decision with the good grace we can all imagine.

Paul, pulled up with a hamstring issue replaced Keith in goal but had no chance to save Kevo’s 2nd that almost took his head off 2-2.

I cocked up a free kick, sending it out of play much to Keith’s chargrin, however the resulting kick in ended up back with blacks and as Keith scuffed the ball in the net, I claimed any unlikely tenuous assist.

3-2 blacks, last quarter, let’s not do anything rash! Ref John decided I’d attempted too many interceptions from around the side and I was harshly sin-binned for 2 minutes. Sometimes if the ball is there to be hit, you’ve just got to hit it.

No goals were conceded in this time but the scoring was completed eventually when Dave 🚖 was permitted a least one goal. 3-3

Post game Reds declared a 4-3 win due to a wrongly disallowed goal but what do they know, I think the ref had a brilliant game 😉
