Colins Corner

Monday morning was a breezy affair with game 2 kicking off 7 aside with 3 Steve’s and 4 Dave’s in attendance with pseudonyms of Rick, Tommy and Boris to make life a little easier

Reds looked the stronger team on paper and knocked the ball around and took the lead with some lovely football between Dave 🚖 and Prak presenting the ball to Han to score 1-0

Blacks worked their way back into the game with Lawrence unleashing a shot past Steve in Reds goal

Reds then stepped up the pressure and a second goal from Han followed by a rare goal by Dave 🚖. It should be noted that Dave 🚖 heat map shows touches all over the pitch but the worst goals to shots ratio so he was happy to finally be on the score sheet.

A 4th reds goal was scored by Dave 🐝 as he received the ball totally unmarked with time to pick his spot.

A good team goal starting from Alan in goal was worked up the pitch and finding Steve (Rick) up front who slotted the ball past Steve (part time ref) 4-2 reds

And that’s how it ended

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, and I tell you what today at the polideportivo was bloody freezing!

10 blacks lined up against 9 reds, the reds having the advantage of the Ref (!).

Blacks had the advantage of having the player, Bambi, with the largest expected XG in WFS history. No, not expected goals, but eXpletives Guaranteed.

With the wind howling across the hallowed turf, ball control was at a premium. Unfortunately, no one was prepared to pay…

Following a passage of play when passes actually reached the person who they were intended for, the ball came out to Dave the Owl, who hit a shot from fully 25yds out and with the wind playing tricks with the ball, it nestled in the top left corner of the net.

Reds started to come back into the game however the black goal lead a charmed life and led to the blacks doubling their lead through Ian.

Red continued pressing and it was no surprise when the ref halved the Black lead with Ton misjudging the shot from Fish and the ball squeaked in at the near post.

This spurred on the blacks and Dave again doubled the lead for the blacks with a well taken shot.

Following a water break, the Ref was again inspired and slotted home from a narrow angle to complete the scoring, a few minutes later the game finished with the score Blacks 3, Reds 2.

The game was expertly reffed by Fish and he also scored twice. Surely the only contender for man of the match.
