On Thursday we were fast approaching the need for 3 pitches, Monday we were back to 6-aside Game 1 and 7-aside Game 2, unfortunately there was no reporter for Game 1 so unless anyone wants to step in and offer a few words we only have a scant comment suggesting Ken scored 3
Onto Game 2, Mark turned up in only his sliders and suggested he could play still, unfortunately the spare PE Kit room was locked so 🚖 came to the rescue with his spare pair of trainers.
Early play was tactical without breakthrough until Yozza put Blacks 1-0 up soon followed by Martin doubling the score.
Reds struck back when Mercedes let fly from the right wing and the ball flew past Paul to his left 2-1 Blacks
A series of one touch passes from Keeper Paul to Colin to Keith to Martin scoring blacks third was starting to give them a confidence that they might win.
Reds however were level when a strong attack by Darren, 🚖 and Mercedes pulling black defenders out wide found Maj infront of goal with time and space to score, this was added to when 🚖 let fly 3-3
Paul was throwing himself around doing his best to save everything reds were throwing at him but as the game progressed Devon Dynamo Darren was too strong for the blacks defence and unleashed a hat trick to overturn their early dominance and reds finally ran out 6-3 winners.
A sub note to the game, ref John found himself at loggerheads at times with players over “cheating”, let’s be honest lads if the ball comes off of you or goes out, let’s call it. That said we’re only human and tackling and running happen even though it’s not in the rules, so let’s take a minute to brush up on what’s permitted.
A reporters observation, it was refreshing to see someone else hit in the face, Mercedes accidentally on the end of a Paul throw out from goal, and, keeper Sean having to do some stock taking whilst saving a shot
