Colins Corner

Monday saw a low turn out as a number of our part time members head back home to hibernate for the winter months.

Long sleeves and talk of heating going on soon was heard as the phrase “Spain is a cold country with a hot sun” starts to dawn on us.

With no photographer and a lack of reporters we’ll condense everything in to this one post.

A revision to the overhead height rule should have simplified things and reduced the meltdowns on the pitch, but more on that later.

Game 1 was a 6v5 affair that the scoreline reflected despite Gert switching sides part way through to bolster the blacks and give the score a bit more respectability but the damage was done.

Ian provided the facts as best he could remember, requiring a data upgrade to his phone to record the scorers.

Ken X3, Graham x2 and Paul had reds 6-0 up before Gert swapped sides where he and a Bambi brace reduced the deficit somewhat but a 10-4 win to the reds was how it ended with other goalscorers recorded simply as TRIALIST 😅

Over to game 2 with the returning Bristol Paul dominating the scoring for blacks.

With his first 4 touches Paul scored twice with frightening pace and accuracy.

It then became the Black (eyed) Ps show with Pete and Prak adding further goals in a seemingly one sided affair.

Martin responded for reds and a cute pass by Dave🦊 to Dave 🦉 who added a second Red goal.

It should be noted at this point that Dave 🦊 was in black

Colin got in on the act for blacks but Paul added another 3 or 4 including the CONTROVERSIAL over head height goal. How could this be, we’ve changed the rule, a deliberate high ball is a foul, so the sliced clearance that went high could have been a red free kick, the ref decided it was accidental so brought play back for the blacks to try again, whilst reds argued the ball was worked forward quickly and Paul added to his tally.

Incensed, Alvin stormed off, to be coaxed back on and with fire in his belly scored a screamer along with a cock up in defence when Colin touched the ball past keeper Keith for an own goal, there may have been another red goal but 9/8 v 4/5 was the estimated scoreline.

Thankfully John returns to ref on Thursday and we’ll see if we can have a peaceful game
