Guest teams seem to be arriving thick and fast
On Thursday we had a team from Dawlish playing us with the visitors absorbing countless attacks and running out 1-0 winners.
On Friday Toni had a visiting Dutch team lining up against us, with he himself guesting in goal for his countrymen.
The Dutch (or Nederlanders) demonstrated some brilliant tiki taki one touch football that was a joy to watch and held their own for a good portion of the game, even affording themselves the need to drop one player late on.
Moments of note:
1. they had no perception where the goal area was, giving away one obvious penalty, others could have been given, but I was a generous referee
2. Toni, seeing how well his countrymen were playing one touch football forgot he’s not that good and presented the ball to the opposition leading to at least 2 goals
3. Fez must have been overcharged for a beer by Toni, given the ferocity of some of his shots, which Toni to his credit did manage to block one or two of.
4. Mercedes needs to brush up on the not tackling from behind rule
5. Everyone needs to learn to count to 3
6. Fez scored 5
7. The most bizarre goal was conceded when a lovely dummy allowed the ball to travel the length of the pitch for the last touch to be to simply roll the ball into an empty net, whilst Pete was retrieving spare balls
8. Kevo, Graham and Mercedes also scored
9. Rick pulled off a great save
10. The ref had a good game 😉
The final score was 8-6 and then we retired to The Lilac Tree for beers and Tapas served by Terry and Johnny who should be back playing soon
