The session started with seven Reds versus seven Blacks with new boy Eddie (if you can call a septuagenarian a boy) watching the first period from the sidelines.
In recent weeks it has been pleasing to see the return of long lost friends such as Diego, Tomas and Jim King. Today it was the turn of our oldest member Ebi Geller (Der Bomber) to make his first appearance for almost a year and a half.
Other than the goals and the goal-scorers, there were few incidents of note. One exception involved Dave R, who having toiled ceaselessly upfront for the Blacks, switched positions with Tony B who had been playing a stormer in goal. Dave dived for a low shot, which beat his outstretched hands, came back of the post, hit his head and trundled over for a corner.
Apart from Mark with four goals to his credit, Tony J scored for the Blacks early on, with Gary (2) and Tony B contributing to an eleven goal thriller.
The Reds countered with a goal apiece from Diego, Nick and a fine effort from Ian H. What was he doing so far up the park?
Our new player Eddie came on for Col the Manc in the Red goal but had to retire with skinned elbows and knees after throwing himself about the goal area. Speedy recovery mate – see you next week?
Blacks 8 Reds 3.
