Countdown to next game at El Canadon

With injuries and visits back to Blighty it was a bit of a struggle to get enough players this week but, thanks to Johan, we managed to get to play 5 a side.

And what a close game it was! The Scottish players were still on a high from their strong performance against Denmark earlier in the week and the English players were expecting to score 10.

In actual fact it was a very close game that either team could have won – if they could stop hitting the ball at the keepers or 20 feet high and wide.

It was going to take a special goal to decide as tight a game as this and that’s what happened. For the Blues – Neil rolled it out to Adrian, he passed it to Johan who split the defence with a pass to Carlos whose quick shot beat Ray. Your reporter has not seen as good a sweeping move since Dick van Dyke in Mary Poppins.

Where did all this detail suddenly appear from (I can hear you asking) well when there’s only one goal it’s a lot easier to remember.

And that was it…. one nil to the Blues. A really good game played in the right spirit with only a few decisions questioned. Thanks to Steve Loasby for reffing again. He did think he had gone deaf at one point but….thankfully not.
