Time until the next game at Benalmadena Polideportivo

Slow Game Report by Geoff

REDS ……1 versus BLACKS……0

Once again on Thursday at the Polideportivo players from Benalmádena and our visitors from Keynsham were mixed and matched into two games  according to ability and age for the last matches of there visit to Andalusia.

The slower game played on a slightly smaller pitch than earlier in the week with smaller goals made for a more even match with goal scoring opportunities at a premium.

As a consequence the first 30 minutes remained goalless with both keepers having very little to do with defences on top.

The Reds scored  the only goal of the game in the third quarter of the match when newbie ‘homeboy’ Matt inexplicably passed the ball across the front of the goal he was defending only to see ‘hotshot’ Laurence smartly intercept to blast past the ball past visitor Geoff in the Blacks goal.

For the Blacks Dave 🚕  and visitor Steve despite all there efforts and cajoling in midfield in the last quarter of the match were unable to breach the Reds defence especially when trying to get Bambi involved more in attack Afterwards the Keynsham boys along with Keef, Breck, ‘H’ and ‘Fish’ then went into the village for a feast of tapas provided by Terry at the Lilac Tree to round off a busy and tiring  week for the visitors after four games of football and an even more hectic social life.

Fast Game Report by Breck

Reds …..4 Blacks …..4

For the second time this week we welcomed Keynsham WF and in the spirit of the game we mixed the teams.

As the numbers were uneven Breck took the whistle and relayed the rules with the emphasis on walking and got the game underway.

Keef now unshackled from managerial responsibility, disregarded what had been said and proceeded to dart about, playing in Kaj who whipped in a ball from the right and the fleet footed Paul (KWF) slotted home. 0-1 The blacks were struggling with formation and it wasn’t long before the reds doubled their lead through some intricate Keef Kaj Kaj Keef passing. 0-2

2nd Half

Blacks came out with a bang and Terry whose mind was clearly on the afternoon’s food & frivolity back at his place played a loose pass that was seized upon. 1-2

Blacks now galvanised by the softly spoken Colin started to dominate with Darren, unusually subdued, having a few well placed shots on target. In the end it was Keith (KWF) inter linking with Nigel who got the equaliser. 2-2

Kevo, clearly had enough, took up a central role and cleverly drew foul after foul culminating in Paul slotting past the despairing dive of Sergei. 2-3

The reds resurgence was palpable and the goal of the game came as Paul crossing from the left saw Terry volley in from close range only to be chalked off for a high ball. Protests ensued but Breck was having none of it. The reds were now determined and with Keef barking orders Kaj and Terry took control with Kaj able to peel off to the back post and tapping in for 2-4

With 5 minutes to go the reds naively kept a high line leaving space at the back which was exploited by Keith(KWF) following a foray forward from Keef and a misplaced pass. 3-4

A minute later confusion in the middle as Terry and Paul went for the same ball and to make matters worse the blacks through Ian(KWF) went up the other end and calmly slotted past Darren. 4-4

Normal service resumes Monday.
