‘A’ Game Match Report by Steve C

Dazza at the Double

The Thursday game featured the return of Bambi and the introduction of new player Brek.

A Warm welcome to new member, Brek Mcloud

A no-show by one of today’s nominated goalies forced a personnel reshuffle and the lemons consequently had to play with 10 players.

However, this deficit was balanced by the inclusion of the “dodgy” referee in their ranks. No warm-up today as the bus lads were a bit behind schedule.

Photo shoot and then KICK OFF. After a tentative start by both sides the oranges began to assert their domination and came close to opening the scoring on a number of occasions in the first quarter. In particular Brian had a shot that rebounded off the post.

A strategic switch was made at the break with Geoff, who due to lack of service had found himself isolated, taking over in goal and Rob pushed up front to join John and Olaf in attack. This ploy worked well and the oranges now found themselves under the cosh.

Olaf came nearest to scoring when he clipped a shot from a ridiculously tight angle past Kevo but it unfortunately hit the post. Nevertheless the second quarter finished goalless.

Into the third quarter now and the deadlock was eventually broken by Keith who ghosted through the orange defence and slipped the ball past Kevo, 1-0.

A warm welcome back to Bambi, playing for the first time in a few months following a stroke.

It took a while but the oranges eventually drew level8 when Dazza burst through the lemon defence and fired a shot past their goalie. This was soon followed by a second goal to put the oranges in front.

Into the fourth quarter and the match was finely balanced. Late in the game the outcome was finally settled by a rocket shot from Greg which screamed past Geoff’s outstretched arms. Definitely a goal of the month contender!

The ref played quite a bit of overtime but the score finished 3-1 to the 11 man oranges. Handshakes all round and off to the bar for some refreshments.

Kevo, who had a relatively easy shift in goal, played barman for today and also entertained the guests whilst Geoff was outlining his ideas for the Christmas jamboree, before moving into full Jackanory mode for his latest tales from the Met.

Farewell to Glyn who is off back to the UK soon but no worries he will return at the end of November for more WF fun.

For the rest of us the circus returns on Monday. See you then!
