Time until the next game at Benalmadena Polideportivo

Match report by Steve

Cherries 7 Blackberries 8

Blinking in the harsh daylight, today’s 16 WF volunteers left their underground playground to sample the delights of the great outdoors.

With the usual preliminaries out of the way the match kicked off. An early double from Colin put the reds in front, a lead they held for the first 20 minutes or so.

Then the scoring jamboree commenced, a direct consequence of some decidedly “iffy” goalkeeping. Bambi, fresh from his recent birthday celebrations, pulled one back for the blacks.

But the reds kept their noses in front for most of the game through goals from Olaf (2) and Mike (3).

Meanwhile the blacks were playing continual catch up and goals from Kevo (2), Dave (2) and Ken (2) eventually brought them level with minutes remaining.

A special mention goes to reds Ken who “scored” a couple of goals, including one where he nimbly danced around the goalie, but failed to spot his presence in the box!

He also had a gilt edged opportunity to grab a late winner but blasted his shot over the bar..doh! The blacks inspired moved up the pitch and a following some slick passes Dave was slipped in by Kevo to grab the winning goal. A win for the blacks left everyone wondering how that had happened? But hey thats football for you. With rain forecast for next week it looks like we may be heading back indoors.

Not everybody’s cup of tea.
