THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN RIDE AGAIN (they wish!)

A hard core group of WF aficionados met up for the Thursday session. Reduced to 7 by call offs, a game of 3 v 4 was proposed with Keith as referee.

A warm welcome back to Dave S and prior to kick off Gary popped down to say hello and let us know he’ll be back in a few weeks. Two sets of rules, one per team, were introduced for the game.

KICK OFF.

As quick adopters of their idiosyncratic set of rules the tangerines quickly built up a three goal lead.

As goals could only be scored inside the box there was a dearth of spectacular goals to report. However, Terry tried to lift the quality of the goals through his flicks and back heels.

At the end of an enjoyable but easily forgettable session the tangerines held on to record a 6-5 victory.

Three things to take away from today’s session was the introduction of the Terry shuffle; a dazzling piece of footwork that requires 5 or 6 touches which unfortunately will be illegal under normal circumstances.

Secondly, an outrageous nutmeg that Brian inflicted on Keith greatly entertained the players.

Finally, Keith avenged his humiliation by summoning his inner demon to force Brian to the ground with no one near him. Scores settled. Strange!

Post match beer tent chatter turned to the weeks ahead and the returning hordes and our possible return to the other place.
