Time until the next game at Benalmadena Polideportivo
Match report by Geoff
Slow Game – Cherries 6 versus Blues 2
Yet another excellent turnout at the Polideportivo necessitating in Keef having to again juggle names in an endeavour to balance the sides for both games as to age and ability. This did not meet with everyone’s agreement as 78 year old Walter was heard mumbling beforehand that he wanted to play in the ‘elite’ match so befitting his ability, apparently in his younger days he turned down the opportunity to sign professional terms for an Italian team. An avid writer of fiction novels he surely must have been getting confused with one of his stories!
The difference between two evenly matched teams on paper was the REDS eventually becoming more organised both in defence and attack.
Old stager Ken K scored for the third successive game to give the REDS an early lead which was soon wiped out with goals from Mike the Crocodile 🐊 from Dundee and Glyn the returning Tyke after several months away in Gods own country.
After a short water break the REDS sorted themselves out to play some excellent football with H in goal distributing the ball well to set up numerous attacking chances resultant in them scoring five goals with no reply from the BLUES.
Star man for the REDS was Dave the Brentford 🐝 with an hat-trick, with other goals from Johan and a second for Ken K. Boris once again defended well and his ball distribution and movement improves with every game following injury.
Johan’s undoubted skills in midfield was a big factor in the expansive football played by the REDS, his late inclusion to play being an added bonus for the REDS when otherwise he would have undoubtedly played with the so called ‘elitists’.
Despite being outplayed the BLUES nevertheless never gave up and went close on several occasion to score, the best effort of which was a screamer from Mick 🍒 of Bournemouth fame which ‘H’ had to hastily punch the ball away to everyone’s amusement thereby preventing him undoubted facial injury.
