Yellows 3 versus Oranges 3
Yesterday match at the PoliDeportivo ended in an exciting draw which overall was a fair result.
Steve C put the Oranges in front after 25 minutes with a typical goal poachers goal. This lead was cancelled out a few minutes later when H scored with a shot from close distance when getting a lucky deflection of a post.
After end to end football, H put the Yellows in front with a strong shot on 45 minutes.
Not to be outdone Steve C won the ball off a Yellow defender, who will remain nameless, to level the score for his second goal with a fine shot.
On 55 minutes our Swedish friend, Johan, a constant threat for the Oranges throughout the match, scored the best goal of the match with a terrific shot from distance.
The Yellows struck back just before the game finished, when TV Kev living up to his nickname, scored for the match to finish all square.
It was great to see Kev finish the game without injury, albeit this may well be because he managed to keep his distance from Dazza!
Not surprisingly, Keef for the Yellows hardly broke sweat and other than one blatant handball when out of his area when in goal refereed fairly for once!
There was much laughter, but not from H, when Dazza blasted a clearance from a short distance into his unmentionables, to then eventually got up and chased Dazza around the pitch.
In the bar afterwards, Dave L was reminded that it was the eve of his 75th birthday and was reluctantly persuaded to buy a few jugs.
It was commented in the bar by Keef that without question everyone playing walking football had undoubtedly improved, irrespective of their ability. This applied none more so than to the birthday boy who had another fine game at fullback giving a faultless display of ball distribution.
Feliz cumpleanos Dave.
As an addendum, I have been given a photograph of your match reporter by the Benalmadena papparazzi, sneaking out for a swifty. I have converted the photo to a drawing to protect the innocent.
