Time until the next game at Benalmadena Polideportivo
REDS ……1 versus BLACKS …..3
The slower old farts initially started as an eight a side match however it was later marred by unfortunate injuries to Italian Paolo and subsequently Jess.
Once again the Polideportivo was blessed with the unusually hot late autumn sunshine again necessitating regular water breaks.
Warm welcome back to Stuart who appeared to be trying to emulate Bambi in the early stages making several dramatic aerobic falls!
The Reds took an earlier lead with an opportunist shot from Jess which the normally reliable Laurie in goal should have saved.
Even though playing in the other match on adjacent pitch Keef still managed to cause confusion when heard to shout water break only for Stuart to walk off with the majority of the slower farts whilst this match was still being played.
1 -0 to the Reds.
There was no further score in the second session although the Reds squandered several good scoring chances from Rick and Audrey and should have gone into the break further in front.
The third session began with Dave 🚌 scoring for the Blacks following a superb through pass from the old stager Ken to easily slot the ball past H in goal.
Unfortunately Paulo then went off injured for the Blacks in some pain with a thigh injury.
All level one apiece at the end of the third session.
At the beginning of the last session Jess who was having an excellent game for the Reds then had a bad fall with the ball at his feet dislocating his left shoulder and had to leave the pitch in some pain. Subsequently afterwards following a visit to the local A&E it would appear he had managed to pop his shoulder back into the joint whilst still on the pitch, however this has left him with muscle and nerve damage and out of action for some 8 to 12 weeks.
This loss affected the Reds significantly and the Blacks took advantage with goals from Pete 🐟 following a pass from the crocodile from Dundee and another from Dave 🚌 after a shot rebounded to him off ‘H’ after making a save.
For the Reds Audrey continues to blend in with the ethos and banter of everyone at WFS and had her best game to date, whilst for the Blacks Dave 🚌 was a constant menace with Laurie in goal also making some fine saves keeping the Reds at bay in the early sessions.
FAST SLOW GAME report by Breck
Today’s game was a true 5 a-side encounter with rush keepers Darren started off in goal for the Reds and Keef minding the Blacks net, the game was cagey with both defences giving little away and with the first session drawing to a close, Darren in his own inimitable way decided to play as a winger, then a misplaced pass from Steve C left the Blacks with an open goal and Nigel didn’t hesitate to say thank you 0-1. (and breathe ……Ed)
Darren now replaced by Steve C tried to redeem himself with some long range ballistic missiles that had clearly been programmed with coordinates other than the Blacks goal.
With Pete taking the gloves for Blacks Keef was free to glide around the park, unfortunately for Blacks it was seldom with the ball. Reds were starting to make inroads and Dave (having been moved from the slow slow game) was finding space and putting some nice passing movements together with Darren and Welsh Steve and it wasn’t long before the Welsh wing wizard glanced a through ball past the static Pete to make the score 1-1.
Second half Dave the Bee’s turn in goal for Blacks allowed Terry to drop back and Keef move into a more forward role alongside Nigel, Blacks were now in control but unable to get anything on target and, following some resolute defending from both Steve’s, the Reds broke free with a simple pass up to Breck, who, for the most part been relatively quiet, managed to take the ball, turn and backheel in one majestic moment…. 2-1.
No sooner had the Reds taken the lead Nigel managed to pull a muscle and had to mind the Blacks net for the rest of the game. With the Blacks creativity now gone the Reds proceeded to take control and it wasn’t long before Dave C made it three 3-1.
Following the much needed water break, the teams resumed with Darren and Pete in full flow, free kick reds, free kick Blacks had now become that pattern of the game when these two saw a loose ball.
But in between Breck had managed to net a second 4-1 and with only a couple of minutes left on the clock the Welsh wizard proceeded to nutmeg Terry and netted his second 5-1.
5-1 was probably not a true reflection of the game but don’t tell Keef. Following some light refreshment we go again on Monday
