YELLOWS 3 v ORANGES  2

A tongue in cheek report of an enjoyable game at the PoliDeportivo yesterday, this despite the underhand antics of Keef totally disregarding the ethos of walking football rules,  namely allowing players to enter the goal area, have unlimited touches of the ball and as the ‘self appointed’ referee not penalising players on his side for running.

Not satisfied with such matters then giving his side the Yellows  an extra player due to the odd number of players turning up. Obviously such decisions suiting his style of ‘football’.

Both sides played some decent football with defences on top in a goalless first 30 minutes before Johan put Olaf through a gap to score an excellent goal for the Yellows.

This was closely followed by a second goal for the Yellows with a fortuitous miss hit shot by Dave the Brentford 🐝. For a few minutes it looked like Keefs dodgy rules were going to pay dividends, before the Oranges  hit back with goals from Steve following a defence splitting pass from Stephen M and then another from Steve which came off his shin before hitting a goalmouth cone thus completely wrong footing the goalkeeper.

The Oranges then had a penalty for foul play in the area by Mick 🍒, playing in goal, and had the chance to take the lead. After a. lengthy debate as to who was going to take the penalty and with Keef doing his best to distract Gazza, the latter tried to take a quick penalty with the ball ricocheting of the same black cone into Micks’ grateful arms.

Mick was then relieved of his goalie duties and duly went on to hit a screamer from all of 5 yards which spun off goalie Steve’s backside into the net to give the Yellows a somewhat fortunate win.

For the Yellows, Dave L had an excellent game distributing some excellent probing passes from his defensive position. For the Orange’s, Kevo worked tirelessly in midfield along with Stephen M.

A warm welcome was extended to Terry, yet another newcomer in the past few months to the PoliDeportivo fold, he settled in really well, showing an adept touch with his ball distribution. Terry is mine host at the Lilac Tree in the nearby Pueblo and will undoubtedly reciprocate our warm welcome to anyone wishing to visit for a meal or drink.

Quote of the day as an excuse for running was made by Dazza- ‘it’s difficult for me not to run as my belly gives me such  forward momentum’, absolute classic.  Nice one Gazza.

As usual an enjoyable time was had by everyone on the balcony bar after the match, albeit this time without any sausages in dressing gowns from Olaf!
