Fast Match report by Steve C

Reds 3 Blacks 0

Due to call-offs today’s game started as 7 Reds v 6 blacks with Steve refereeing. Steve outlined the rules for playing which would take a more lenient approach.

KICK OFF….Early doors some nice passing interplay by both sides was on display but the use of the smaller hockey goals kept the scoring to zero.

After 20 minutes or so Breck broke the deadlock, finishing off a neat passage of play. This was followed by a second from Alvin.

By the half hour mark, the game had speeded up considerably due to Steve’s ‘laissez faire’ style and Walter, who up to this point had acquitted himself well playing with the younger dudes was hooked by Keith. He was in the wrong game!

To rebalance the sides Alvin, transferred to the dark side.

With about 15 minutes left Dazza, showing remarkable shooting restraint, fired in a lowish shot for ‘de turd’ goal.

The match now became more frantic and Kevo took off his goalie gloves as the blacks tried to reduce the deficit.

However, through some top defending, last ditch interceptions and saves from the goalie the reds held out for a 3-0 victory.

FULL TIME…a cracking game that perhaps does not reflect the effort put in by the black side. Thanks must go to Steve for refereeing.

By the look of the numbers signing up for Monday’s game I hope he’s available again. See you then.

Leisurely Match report by Geoff

STRAWBERRIES 7 v BLACKBERRIES 10

Due to numbers the players were split into two matches, in the Dutch Rules or as Keef made them sound Double Dutch after some delay and deliberation about the rules the game started.

The early phases of the match was dominated by the Strawberries, who at one stage led by 7 goals to 2, with Mick 🍒 a constant goal scoring threat in front of goal. However once the Blueberries  got to grips with Keef’s interpretation of the rules they fought back to win comfortably.

This in no small part thanks to an eight goal blast by Mike the ‘Crocodile from Dundee’ who suddenly snapped back to his goal poaching best ably assisted by Welsh Steve .

Walter, our octogenarian friend and recent new member, after some 15 minutes eventually realised he should not have been playing in the standard rules match on the adjacent pitch then decided to join the Blueberries playing Dutch Rules.

He later was heard quoting in the bar  that it was him joining the Blueberries that made the difference  to them winning and that he left the standard rules match as it was not competitive enough for a man of his age, classic!
