FF Reds 6 FF Blacks 6

Lots of players available for selection so 2 games required today.

Keith welcomed new players Don and Han along with returners Frank and Walter.

Keith hit the reset button for “Spirit of the game” with a pep talk, then all four teams headed off to their respective games. Both “fast fart” teams took a while to get into their stride and the use of the smaller goals restricted goal opportunities in the early period of the game.

Frank

The deadlock was broken by a thunder strike from Frank just before the first water break.

The second period of play saw the blacks draw level then edge into the lead. This was short lived as the reds pulled level just before half time. The reds began to assert their dominance in the third quarter scoring three goals without reply.

Some dodgy goalkeeping from the blacks didn’t help their cause. However, Dave managed to pull one back to make it 5-3. A wicked ricochet caught big Al right in the face but undeterred the reds extended their lead further.

With ten minutes remaining the blacks staged a somewhat unlikely revival and three goals brought them unbelievably level at 6-6. An outstanding game of walking football and we can come back and do again on Thursday.

REDS  1 versus BLUES  5

In a game of two halves the BLUES turned a halftime deficit into a comfortable win.

There was a welcome return by Gualtieri Nogler aka Walter our multi national member from his charity jaunts in Africa, born in Austria he also considers himself to be Italian, Welsh and German. There is no wonder when going thorough customs upon showing an Italian passport on his recent visit to the UK much to his surprise he got a thorough going over. If he is to be believed in his younger days he was the Italian table tennis champion, international skier and also offered professional terms as a young man by an Italian football club which he turned down to work in a bank, I believe only then to awake from his dream!

Walter is a fantastic story teller and recently sent ‘Keef’ a copy of his biography available on Amazon about his travels, needless to say true to form the latter refused to pay the additional postage and the book was returned to Walter.

New Member Hamid

A big welcome to two newcomers Han and Hamid who on their WFS debuts played some clever football which augurs well for the future on such performances.

The first half was relatively even and just before half-time Ken ‘K’ scored to put the reds one up.

For some reason ‘Keef’ thought the teams were unevenly matched and moved Han into the BLUE team and the ‘Crocodile’ from Dundee into the RED’s.

That coupled with Bambi having a disaster of a match clearly misinterpreting Keef’s shout of keep it simple only then to make a sublime back pass for Han to equalise for the BLUES, also adding the third goal for his second.

The dancing on ice star was them moved into goal obviously believing he had to dive away from any hard shots thereby letting in two goals only to be immediately removed from such duties and dispatched into a midfield role. The Commander then went in goal and almost immediately

New member Han

emulated Bambi’s performance by letting in a low screamer of a toe prod from Mick 🍒 go through his legs in true Gary Sprake fashion to add to the earlier one he scored.

Dave 🐝 then scored the final goal of the second half rout with a clever chip.

For the BLUES despite carrying an injury the ‘Villain’ from Birmingham had a steady game as did Boris in defence for the REDS.

All joking apart the game was played in an excellent WFS spirit with no running or fouls and for once referred fairly by Keef. In conclusion Bambi to his credit took all the banter in the good spirit for an outstanding performance as MOM!

Walter and Ken, both nearly 80!
