Time until the next game at Benalmadena Polideportivo
Match report by Steve
Reds 4 Blacks 4
For the third day in succession the inclement weather forced the intrepid footballers indoors for their Thursday kickabout.
Six a side for todays game refereed by Breck whose knee was suffering from the previous two indoor games. El Presidente elect, Keith ran over the rules of engagement for today’s match. Team photo taken then kick-off…
Both sides were just getting warmed up and the blacks were leading 1-0 after 15 minutes when the stadium manager informed us that the power would be turned off for 20 minutes due to construction work. As this is Spain – aye right 20 minutes! The option to move outside was rejected because of inappropriate footwear. Play on in the gloaming was agreed but extra care was mandated. As your reporter here has poor eyesight at the best of times the following highlights may or may not have occurred!
The blacks increased their lead through big Al before the reds pulled it back to 2-2 through goals from Dave and your intrepid reporter. Under cover of darkness the Daz thought he could scoot about like Billy-whizz but the eagle-eyed Breck reined him in!
Dave the owl had a short stint in goal before a blaster from Al (or Daz) injured his hand. The reds briefly took the lead before the blacks equalised and then regained the lead.
With a few minutes remaining the reds equalised..4-4. Following a stramash in the blacks defence Keith thought he had scored the winner…a heated debate followed and the goal was subsequently chalked off for some spurious reason!
Full time 4 a piece the final result.
An excellent match played in challenging conditions. Off to the bar for some beers where discussion turned to KDNs leaving party and the karaoke selections.
If I recollect Martyn’s was Puff the Magic Dragon; Keith’s My Old Mans a Dustman and Breck’s was The Wild Rover. I don’t know about you but I’m looking forward to it already.
See you all next week, outdoors hopefully.
