Time until the next game at Benalmadena Polideportivo
REDS ……5 versus BLACKS ……3
The slower old farts game allegedly for those less able or of lesser ability defied the aforementioned comments to provide an 8 goal thriller.
Playing seven a side three touch walking football unlike the so called elite mob on the opposite pitch both teams on occasions put on an expansive passing display of free flowing football.
With extra man Welsh Steve scoring against the run of play to put the Blacks into an early lead Breck in his wisdom then ‘nicked’ the Welshman due to Garry ✈️ in the elite squad getting injured so as to level up the sides in both matches.
The Reds now on an equal footing scored two quick goals from Sonic Geoff and the back to form Dave 🚕 to take the lead before the end of the first session.
Despite some really good expansive football the second quarter ending goalless.
The third session started with goal poacher supreme five touch Ken scoring a goal to put the Blacks level.
Dave 🚕 scored a scorcher of a goal to put the Reds back in front only for Ken the oldest swinger in walking football Spain to equalise with his second goal.
The last session started all square at 3-3 before Boris put the Reds back in front following a fine passing sequence by his team mates. Boris is now unsure if he can make the match on Monday as this will depend whether or not he receives the 100 votes or more so as to go into the next round of the ballot following Liz’s resignation yesterday at Westminster!
Give up your day job Boris, you are better at football!
To cap off the scoring man of the match Dave l 🚕 scored his hat-trick to make the final score 5-3 to the Reds.
Also Jess for the Reds had a better game than of late, it is a shame the same cannot be said about Bambi who to be fair constantly moans about everything including his own rubbish passing and shots on goal!
A warm welcome was given to yet another Martyn who will hopefully return next week, if so I’m sure he will be given an appropriate nickname when we find out a bit more about him.
Finally, after both matches had concluded Welsh Steve asked if it could be mentioned in dispatches because he had also scored in the so called ‘elite mob’ match a fete he believed had not occurred at the Polideportivo previously. No such luck, he was not impressed just like Bambi was when ‘H’ the match referee jokingly told him that his goal for the ‘old farts’ didn’t count due to him playing in the ‘elite’ match.
Obviously neither appreciated such a comment neither having a sense of humour!
Fast Game report by Breck
As we approached 10.30 the game was destined for 11-aside but with the arrival of Ken & Martyn(slow game) a faster game was sanctioned. Yoza joining us from Morecambe via Leeds and Garry (plane commander) flying in from wherever he had been posted ensured that the regulars were in for a tactical game.
The teams lined up, Keef took the gloves for reds Steve adding a backbone to the defence ably assisted by Breck in a floating roll with Trevor and Garry seeking out the goals or so they thought. Blacks sought refuge with Laurence starting in goal with Pete, Darren, Alan and Yoza in defence, midfield & attack.
Blacks kick off with an immediate attack but a lame shot/pass back from Darren allows Keef to release Breck whose slick pass finds Trevor down the right and onto Garry who fires just wide. Quick thinking Laurence sends a long ball out to Alan who does a one two with himself, the whistle is blown and we all stop to find Garry on his knees praying to Mecca but clearly something was wrong as he wasn’t facing East.
Game over for Garry, Welsh Steve was drafted in from the slow game and the reds were now up against it. Yoza, Darren, Pete and Alan combined 0-1, combined again 0-2 and with Alan replacing Laurence in goal it wasn’t getting any easier for the reds and Yoza makes it 0-3. Reds through Breck reduce the deficit 1-3 but the Blacks superiority continues and Pete and Darren link up well as Darren keeps his shot low and on target(Yes it’s true) 1-4
Half time Pep talk(Keef chat) and Breck goes in goal. Blacks come out smiling and joking but it’s not long before those smiles turn to dismay, Yoza
has taken the gloves for Blacks and their midfield intensity is lost, Keef now fired up cuts back from the right and Trevor knocks it in. 2-4 Reds keep the ball moving and with Welsh Steve coming more into the game it’s not long before Keef taps it in 3-4.
The Reds keep the pressure on with Steve C and Trevor combining until the latter gives a stray pass to Pete who finds Darren through to Laurence who can’t miss and doesn’t 3-5
Here we go again and the Reds continue to put the pressure on with Breck moving further up allowing the Reds to find space, a defence splitting pass to Steve C who lays on Trevor for his second 4-5. Yoza has seen enough and puts Darren in goal but the ascendency is still with the Reds, who through a combination of luck and skill from Keef he finds Welsh Steve on his own but as previously he sends it wide, albeit closer. Blacks don’t learn and Keef finds Welsh Steve again on his own, surely this time, the net bulges it’s a goal 5-5.
With minutes to go the Blacks look shell shocked and the Reds can smell victory Steve C takes the ball up the right onto Keef who lays it back to Steve C in turn out to Welsh Steve who cuts in past Alan and knocks a hopeful ball towards goal, Trevor manages to get to it just before the fast approaching Pete and tap it into the far corner 6-5.
With the Reds out on their feet and begging the referee to blow for full time a neat move from Blacks saw Laurence and Darren combine to set Yoza free, one on one he sends Breck the wrong way and with the last kick of the match 6-6.
As is with a great game of walking football all players walk off sweating profusely and retire to the bar
