LEMONS 3 versus ORANGES 3

On a damp and drizzly Tuesday morning at the Polideportivo, the match played on half a full sized pitch, with the smaller goals and rush goalies, was started some 5 minutes early by the referee Steve L, almost certainly this was deliberate, thus causing the two late arrivals namely Steve and Breck to hastily get changed.

The game was played in an excellent spirit, for what eventually turned out to be a really enthralling seven a side match, this in no small part due to for once having an excellent whistler in charge.

Much to everyone’s surprise, the usual late suspect Dazza 🏉 was for once early, obviously not wanting to incur the Sheriffs wrath yet again for late payment.

Alvin was welcomed back into the fold and soon made his mark with a well taken goal to put the Lemons in front with a little bit of stardust footwork.

Steve

This was soon cancelled out when KDN put the Oranges level with a nifty shot leaving everything all square at the first water break.

The Lemons against the ‘run’ of play then scored two quick goals before the second water break by Keef feigning a shot to then cleverly chip over Kevo‘s pie 🥧 shaped diving athletic belly, not a pretty sight and the other by Steve making up for his late arrival following a flowing passing movement by several of his teammates .

Despite dominating much of the third period the Oranges 🍊 failed to score.

The last quarter with H in goal, the Oranges put two quick well deserved goals past him by Rory with a long range toe prod for which he was adamant was a pile driver and the other by Pete G.

The bombardment continued on the Lemons goal, which had a charmed life with the ball hitting the crossbar and posts with H somehow managing to luckily catch the rebounds on every occasion.

In the end the match ended all square at 3 a piece. Quote of the day by Alvin to a shattered H coming off the pitch ‘I thought we were a bit unlucky not to win that game’, causing H to remark to several of the Orange 🍊 players ‘which effing match has he just been playing in’.

Everyone then returned to the bar area for refreshments.
