Time until the next game at Benalmadena Polideportivo

Match Report by Geoff

REDS …….2 versus BLACKS …..3

After the recent autumnal sunshine and then last Monday’s gale force wind followed by Wednesdays overnight rain the forecast was not looking good when everyone started arriving at the Polideportivo on Thursday in the early morning drizzle.

The banter on arrival to pay their subs is always a feature as is H’s good morning wishes to everyone!

As expected there was several drop outs in the morning with the likelihood of more rain, this none more so than that of James who somehow miraculously recovered from a heavy dose of man flu only to turn up an hour or so later to play with the rain having abated.

This recovery was aided no doubt as a result of all the vodka he drinks at everyone else’s expense after matches at the Polideportivo!

Not to be outdone old stager Ken then turned up and confused everyone including himself by stating he was not playing only to then change his mind seconds later to pay his subs and subsequently go on and score a really fine opening goal for the Blacks.

Then following on from all this drama to add insult to injury Mike the crocodile🐊 from Dundee turned up wearing a no expense spared lucky man football shirt in the colours of Senegal England’s next opponents in the World Cup. Always nice to know the English have the support our Celt neighbours.

The match got underway with overcast skies and fortunately no rain with a slick three touch passing move by the Blacks from Laurie in goal to Rick then onto Ken to blast into the back of the Reds net aided in part as a result  of Mr. Loasby slipping on the wet astro turf.

After the water break and God knows why one was needed with Keef now ably directing operations in midfield for the Reds Glyn scored to level everything at one apiece.

With Dazza now in goal for the Reds unfortunately he was unable to move his nimble girth across the goalmouth to stop an angled low shot from James, this the one suffering from a serious bout of man flu!

2-1 to the Blacks at the second water break.

The last session began with Breck equalising for the Reds hitting a poweful shot past Laurie in the Blacks goal following some exquisite passing between Keef and Han.

In a pulsating finish with both teams going out for the winner James hit a blaster of a shot from distance which H in goal  being unsighted didn’t see until the last second and in the process completely missed timed the hand of plod only to see the ball land in the back of the net much to the delight of the scorer in getting the winner.

What a player, man of the match and ill to boot.

Our guest visitor Ken from Eastbourne who hadn’t played for 2 months had a steady game in midfield for the Blacks spraying the ball around to regularly put his attack minded team mates on the front foot.
