Match Report by Geoff
REDS ….3 versus BLACKS ….3
The final score in the end reflected two evenly selected 9 aside teams by Breck which was undoubtedly helped by no late drop outs.
The Blacks took an early lead when Mike the Crocodile from Dundee latched on to a rare loose back pass from Kevo.
Before the first water break, Kevo made up for his earlier error and hit a sublime shot into the back of the Blacks net to equalise.
The crocodile, at long last finding his shooting boots, then scored his second following a superb through pass from Rick. 2-1 to the Blacks.
A few minutes later, the crocodile scored his hat trick, with a disputed goal for alleged encroachment into the Reds goal area placing the ball past Big Harry in goal. The protestations of the Reds was overruled by H, the referee allowing the goal much to the disgust of Harry, the former Brentford Bee who played several matches for for them when a teenager in the mid 60’s.
Big Harry subsequently mentioned over a drink later on the balcony that he was released by Brentford in 1967 when still a teenager. When asked why he added it was because he failed his driving test. Somewhat perplexed at this response when interrogated further by H, he went on to say it was a result of him failing his driving test. This subsequently turned out to be for failing to read a car number plate from a distance of 20 metres thereby classically failing his test before he had even got in the car. Not the best attribute for a budding football league player to have hence why he got the boot, albeit he couldn’t be blamed for any of the 3 goals he had conceded in this match.
With the Blacks flagging under the midday sun in the final few minutes Han for the Reds hit a superb lob shot over the head of Laurence in the Blacks goal.
3–2 to the Blacks.
With H playing extra minutes for time wasting by the Blacks Kevo put old stager Ken through into space to fittingly equalise for the Reds for the dodgy referee to then blow the whistle to bring an end to a terrific game of walking football.
Player of the match was undoubtedly the Crocodile from Dundee with his 3 goals which he repeatedly reminded everyone of in the bar afterwards, he was ably supported for the Blacks by Keef and Rick.
For the Reds as always Kevo with his energy, Han and octogenarian Walter ,the Nog, in defence stood out.

Great to see Dave the owl back!
