Match Report by the Senior Sports Reporter “Steve Conway”

MONDAY 16th AUGUST

Buoyed up by the return of some old friends, 13 “bams” took to the pitch on a hot, sultry morning. 6-a-side with Keith as referee was the order of the day.
Following the vigorous “warm up” and photo call Keith outlined the strict WF parameters for today’s match.
Lemons Kick off. Quickly into their stride both sides put together some smart moves which only broke down due to some overly adventurous passing and Johan’s rustiness in front of goal.

PLAY ON…

À cracking contest was played out over the course of the next hour and the post-match consensus of opinion was a 7-4 win for the tangerines. Apart from the goal scorers a key feature of the game was the number of super saves made by the goalkeepers of both sides. John effectively marshalled the tangerines from the back and Dave released his premier league bee to notch up a hat-trick. For the Lemons, Terry continued to dazzle in his new trainers, just failing to pull off a spectacular “triple shuffle” in the first half. He just needs to keep his legs closed when in defensive mode.

SUMMING UP

À corker of a contest which wouldn’t have looked out of place in the Cambridgeshire County League Senior B Division. Special mention and thanks go to referee Keith who patrolled the line with equanimity. On display was his whistling expertise and evidence that he really does know the rules of WF and how to even handly implement them. This will be a “hard act” to follow. Roll on Thursday.
