YELLOWS …7 v ORANGES….3

Yesterday at the Polideportivo a ‘little’ bit of history was made when Lydia became the first lady to play walking football at Benalmadena.

She more than held her own throughout the game and although playing for the losing team actually scored a terrific goal when she blasted the ball past ‘Kevo’ in the yellows goal almost dislocating his fingers in the process when trying to make the save.

The first goal of the game was scored by the Dave the Brentford BEE  🐝 to put the oranges in front which didn’t last for long when H levelled with a clever back heel shot.

For the yellows, Franz Olaf was a constant threat and although scoring a consolation goal for once, was more of a provider for others when he realised he could also pass the ball rather than shoot for goal!

Other scorers for the yellows with a brace each was ‘Kevo’ and Steve ‘M’ the latter a constant threat with his astute passing. Brian H aka Sweeney Todd provided another of his excellent crosses for his namesake, H,  to score his second goal from close distance.

Much to his delight newcomer, Mick for the third consecutive match scored at the death for the oranges to make the score look more respectable.

Whether it was the influence of Lydia our Spanish player or just coincidence there was more falling over and rolling by some players, none more so than tele-tubby Bob! Disgraceful!

Dave L and Fish had solid games in defence for the oranges showing that they will be really useful players for the next local Derby against Calahonda later this month.

Keef as normal caused mayhem with his constant changing of WFS rules.

This none more so than marking out the goal areas with cones then allowing defenders or attackers to go inside them without communicating this to everyone before kick off!

Highlight of the day was  undoubtedly provided by our Master Chef and popular German friend, Franz Olaf , when in the bar afterwards he brought in a giant tray of ‘sausages in dressing gowns’ (to you Keef, simply put, sausage rolls.) Absolutely delicious.

Thursdays match due to the weather forecast may well be played inside the gym at the Polideportivo at not at the Retamar, 10.30 for 11am start. Keef will update WhatsApp accordingly.
