MATCH REPORT – BENAHAVIS 6th July by your chief Football reporter Rob Fitzgerald

So after the disappointment of their comrades gallant 6-4 defeat it was left to Sporting to lift spirits in the camp, and they duly obliged with an attacking and efficient 7-4 win against Malaga B.

Popeye was the man to set the trend with a great early strike giving the keeper no chance. He completed his hat-trick with the help of a deflection and another sharp finish…..and only 10 minutes gone.

Water break then Sporting consolidated their lead in the next quarter with goals from Paul R, playing his second game after starring for Atletico, and a fourth for that man Popeye.
5-1 at half time and no way back for Malaga’s second string. Or was there?

The Blues had to now show some defensive discipline. No problem for the likes of experienced campaigners like Colin, Charles and guest man Jeremy, backed up by Nick in the sticks.

However, 2 good goals from Malaga closed the gap before an opportunist strike from the hard working Tony A.

6-3 and still all to play for in the final quarter. Malaga did pull another one back but Tony A settled the nerves with a beaut into the top corner.

Well done Sporting!
