Time until the next game at Benahavis
MATCH REPORT – BENAHAVIS 6th July by Rob Fitzgerald
Another fantastic turn out on another hot sweaty Tuesday night when 19 players took to the field (nobody fancied the subs bench) including new recruit Paul, second timer Adrian and a guest cameo from Tom (Popeyes son)..
The game was unable to flow in its normal slick manner owing to 10 v 9 on a 7-a-side pitch! Finding space and the killer ball was at a premium.
However Blues managed to find the net 4 times without reply in the first quarter. Some tidy interplay between Paul (Leonard) Rossiter and Andrew (Clair) Sweeney despite the claustrophobic conditions.
Changing of the guard for the second quarter and Kieran pulled off several stunning saves to keep the score down. 6-2 to Blues at the turn and batting to hang in being a man down.
The last 2 quarters were tired and dehydrated. Both ending 1-1 (I think) making it 8-4 to Blues on the night. But by this time nobody cared as it was straight in the bar for Spain v Italy, (unlucky Spain but don’t worry we’ll do them in the final) 🏆⚽️
Thanks to Andy Robertson for stepping in to ref in Rob Humphreys absence. And well done Tom for pretending to enjoy yourself with a bunch of old gits!
