Attendance and spirits were up at San Pedro Stadium. So was some of the shooting, not just clearing the bar but the 30 ft fence behind! We lost more balls than Popeye’s golf society on a bad day.
Fortunately there were also plenty of shots on target as the Blues steamed into a 6 – 1 lead in the first quarter.
Swapping Alex ‘the cat’ Ness to the Whites gave them a platform to start playing with more swagger, although the injured Rob England proved more than capable between the sticks for the Blues.
The game took the shape of a basketball match, end to end with some excellent passing and movement. With referee Doug showing some leniency with fast walking, there was still a steady supply of goals.
A great guest performance from Ilias from Bulgaria helped the Blues seal an 11 – 6 victory.
Shock of the night was Big Tony C scoring a hat-trick playing in the false number 5 role, No defending!!
