Time until the Next game at Benalmadena Polideportivo
Match report by Geoff
REDS….5 versus BLACKS….4
On Monday 4th March yet another excellent turnout at the Polideportivo enabling two 6 aside matches to take place, this despite two no shows.
Your correspondent had the pleasure of reporting on the match nearest the clubhouse excellently refereed by John aka Fireman Sam and played generally in a sporting spirit.
Han gave the Reds an early lead following an exquisite through pass from Dave ‘M’, the former slotting a low shot past Garry in goal.
1-0 to Reds.
Within a few minutes old stager Ken at his second attempt extended the Reds lead blasting the ball into the Blacks net giving Garry in goal no chance to save. 2-0 to Reds.
Bambi then pulled one back for the Blacks, making the score 2-1.
Just before the break there was a comedy of errors by Jackie, she was obviously a little rusty playing her first game for some 8 months following a badly broken wrist, albeit not a football related injury.
First of all she caught the ball when it rebounded off the Reds crossbar, then somewhat out of character Fireman Sam leniently gave a free kick rather than the expected penalty.
However seconds later this decision was rectified when she stepped into her own penalty area, this time a penalty was awarded which Alan put away with ease past John H in goal. 2-2.
Highlight of the second session was a great left foot strike by Garry past Dave M in the Reds goal to give the Blacks the lead for the first time.
3-2 to Blacks at the break
Third session ended with a mini goal fest with Han blasting one past Alan in the Blacks goal to equalise, followed by Ken after a delicate through pass from Dave M to put the Reds back in front. 4-3 to Reds. During this period Ken had two goals correctly disallowed for encroaching the Blacks goal area, to say he was not best pleased is an under statement.
The session ended with Garry showing his versatility hitting a shot this time with his right foot past ‘Fish’ in the Reds goal.
4-4 at the break.
Last session began with Han in the Reds goal making a fine diving save from Garry’s low penalty shot.
Almost immediately at the other end Fireman Sam missed Bambi now in goal stepping out of the Blacks goal area denying the Reds a penalty.
In the last seconds an almighty mix up between Bambi in goal following a back pass from Smiffy’ allowed Gentleman John to intercept and score the winner. FT 5-4 to Reds.
