Time until the next game at Benalmadena Polideportivo
Match report by Geoff
This report for a six a side match, for the aged and walking wounded, was one of two played on Thursday at the Polideportivo.
The game got off to a flying start with Dave the Owl hitting the Reds crossbar closely followed by his teammate Dave Parrot hitting the post.
Not to be outdone, old stager Ken made a sublime pass to the Parrot for him to easily slot the ball into the back of the Reds net.
1-0 to Blacks.
Just before the end of the first session poor defending by the Pirate from Penzance enabled the Parrot to pounce and score his second goal.
2-0 to Blacks.
The second session began with Bambi for the Reds, although it pains me to say, it arguably scoring the goal of the match, following a tremendous through pass from the Pirate, to blast the ball into the back of the bulging Blacks net. Surely this was a mishit! 2-1 to Blacks.
Just before the end of the second session, Bambi was booked for repeatedly back chatting the referee, thereby becoming the first player at the Polideportivo in recent history to be given a yellow card. These cards being purloined by H from Breck before the match so determined was he to bring this serial offender to task once and for all!
The third session began with Glyn scoring almost immediately past the impressive Parrot in goal. 2-2.
During this session, Dave Parrot made three successive excellent saves from the marauding Red attackers to keep the scores level at the break and his team in the game.
In the last session, Glyn scored his second to put the Reds deservedly in front for the first time.
3-2 to Reds.
Despite the referee playing five minutes additional time, in all honesty the Blacks never really threatened the Reds goal.
Man of the match undoubtedly was the Blacks Dave Parrot for his superb performance in goal and his two goals. For the Reds, Bambi had one of his better games, despite being booked and Pete D was always a threat despite being penalised several times for running, despite stating he was injured.
There is no doubt on this performance that Dave the Parrot will be selected for the so called elite match in future now that Breck is aware of his ability.
A really enjoyable game with some excellent 3 touch football on occasions.
At FT 3-2 to Reds.
NOTE: Due to a collective of Dave’s at the Polideportivo Dave Parrot was originally given the emoji of a Sparrow, until Keef inadvertently gave him a Parrot emoji, so the latter will now be his name at WFS.
