Rorys Ramblings
Farewell to Keynsham
Game two was another exciting affair even though the blacks ran away with it in the end. The blacks had the reassurance of ready steady Eddie between the sticks with Mario as a smooth passing libero.
It was a tight affair in the first session with both teams probing the opposition defence. Simon was his usual energetic self in midfield setting up a series of early attacks for the blacks.
The reds were particularly strong down the left flank with tough tackling brummie left half Paul linking well with Keynsham’s Keith and Kevin to let the blacks know they were in a game.
Simon’s gyroscope was malfunctioning when it came up against Dazza’s magnetic personality, it resulted in the midfield dynamo winning the prize for the most shots not on target.
The blacks seized the initiative when Rory side-footed them into an early lead. Immediately after the second break he knocked in another with his rusty left peg, thanks to a dream through ball from Simon, who realised that shooting was a waste of effort.
Two up and the blacks were on a Mediterranean cruise, dumping record amounts of CO2 into the thinning ozone and sinking some of civilisation’s most historic ancient cities.
The blacks hadn’t counted on a nano particle of Mario’s left boot straying into the box. Unfortunately it was spotted by a low flying Russian satellite and the infringement was immediately relayed to ref John by VAR through his earpiece. Penalty! Sure enough, up stepped ex-Cambridge hard man and Finnish cod botherer Dave King to wallop the ball past a statuesque Eddie in goal. Blacks 2-1 Reds
Game on!! Unfortunately for the reds, Dave spent most of the rest of the match trying to keep the contents of his stomach where they belonged and not on the pitch. Meanwhile, the blacks concealed their disappointment and gradually got on top of the game as the battling reds began to tire.
The blacks were starting to ask some serious questions of the reds defence (does Einstein’s theory of relativity explain the formation of black holes?), and gradually the cracks began to show. First (no look pass) Dave finished off a fine move before Jim unveiled some classic Dalgleish and buried the ball in the top corner to make it 4-1 to the Blacks.
The reds didn’t deserve such a shellacking but the blacks incessant passing and moving provided the best art since the emergence of the Bauhaus movement during the decadent pre-war period.
The game was finally buried when the blacks were awarded a penalty for the overuse of sarcasm by the reds defence. John had no option but to issue a yellow card and award a penalty. Up stepped Prak to bury a superb penalty in the top corner.
Final score Blacks 5-1 Reds.
It was a hard fought game and the reds deserved more. Thanks to John for reffing and keeping things moving

Thursday 2nd October 2025 – Forever known as the game of 4 hatricks… yes that’s right 4 !
Before we get to who did what let’s get the goals out of the way –
1. Fez on his full return from injury hit ⚽⚽⚽ for the blacks in the first half..
2. Ken one of our oldest players was on fire 🔥 for the blacks ⚽⚽⚽
3. Ton our Dutch wing wizard 🧙♂ for the reds, bang ⚽⚽⚽
4. Graham (AKA Kane) whatever you can do, I can do for the blacks ⚽⚽⚽
But what was the final score ? Reds 5, Blacks 9 ! The other goals came from our visitors from Keynsham Martin bagged ⚽⚽..
The mixed teams played some great football expertly reffed by Sean, back from his worldwide travels, over his jet lag but struggling with an injury.. he had little to do as the lads played respectful & honest football..
H and Graham (Eric Dier) played some lovely stuff for the reds out from the back, feeding Ton and the Keynsham lads but the Blacks defence held firm Harry Kane starting in goal pulled off some good saves..
For the blacks Fez and Ken linked up well and with some great one, twos opened the scoring and kept scoring !
Although the goals were flying in for the blacks the reds kept plugging away and at 6-0 down could have taken an early Bath, no they from Brizzle 🫣…. Instead they battled away and pulled the game back to 6-4 😳 Fez lost his head getting beat at the near and far post and from a long range strike !
Thankfully for the blacks Harry Kane (Graham) kept his cool and after hitting every post and bar finally found the net x 3 !
The reds kept attacking with Graham and Ton exchanging one twos and Graham peppering a number of shots goal wards.. one in particular had the keeper cat like clawing the ball from the top corner.
H kept the other goal and made a number of last gasp stops from Ken and Graham (Kane) as the reds pushed forward and left both attackers free to shoot..
