Game 1 report is brought to us by Dave 🦊 who has taken to refereeing and writing match reports at the same time, is there any end to his talents? well it’s his fault that the losers lose because he also picks the teams 😅

Today I bring you Dave’s uncensored notes in the form of a very long Haiku 😉

Match 2 report

We all know football is a game of opinions and mine certainly didn’t match some of the lads pre match chat or the score. I looked at the teams the night before and said to Mrs Fezza might be in for a beating tomorrow !

Picking the teams is a difficult task, several lads carry injuries, often some are returning from the pubs straight to footie 😳 and then there’s form or the interpretation of the rules by the ref !

That said, I thought John (ref) had a great game this week, when called upon got his calls right and cracked down on the high ball… a recent talking point..

So my view pre game isn’t the best barometer to the outcome and this week proved that without a doubt..

The Blacks had what I believed was a decent side, skill, endeavour, ‘pace’, guile & know how..

The Reds and this is in hindsight matched the Blacks, but kept a better shape and were able to stick the ball in the onion bag…

The game ebbed and flowed, Bob in goal for the Reds was a match for anything the Blacks could throw at him.. when they were able to breach the Reds defence of Tommy, Prak, the hard working Dave, Alan & Han.. Leaving Fez to wander around up front as the first line of defence…

The Blacks had Keith in goal, Colin, Pete marshalling the wandering Fez, Kevo & Daz in the middle of the park with Darren and Martin combining up front.

The Reds soaked up any Blacks attack and when leaving Fez on his own to receive the ball, Alan & Han were to quick support and the 3 created some good attempts on goal…

Alan rattled the ‘wood work’ well plastic post, before Han unleashed another shot on goal that was partially saved by Keith however went in off the far post…

1-0 Reds

Dave was now probing forward and had several range finders, the first couple wide of the target and then bringing out a fine save from Keith who managed to tip the goal bound effort over for a corner.

Alan was ghosting into the back post and had several golden opportunities to extend the Reds lead but just could steer the ball home..

The second goal came when the Blacks pushed forward leaving Fez unmarked… a quick ball to his feet and as Keith came to sweep up, Fez laid the ball to his left allowing Dave to stroke home the ball from almost the half way line into an empty net..

2-0 Reds.

The Blacks were getting frustrated not being able to get close to the Reds goal with Prak and Tommy combining youth and experience to mark the Blacks out of the game…

Get to close to Fez he will turn you shoot and yes a goal.

3-0 Reds.

Kevo, Martin, Darren & Daz kept the Reds on their toes upping their game with some smart passing and movement, but the Blacks held firm. Pete and Colin defended really well snuffing out several Red attacks..

But the Reds played some lovely football with a good shape, passing left to right and forward.. the ball was laid to Han who unleashed a pile driver almost ripping the net !

4-0 Reds.

The Blacks finally breached the Reds defence, Darren took the ball from Kevo moved it inside and unleashed a rocket, Bob got a hand to in, but it ended up in the new…

4-1 Reds.

I’ve witnessed many a come back on pitch 2 so nothings won until John blows his final whistle…

Fez got another ball to his feet this time from Tommy a quick turn and bosh the ball was in the net…

5-1 Reds..

The Blacks knew the game was up and the Reds could have added a few more, but for off target shot, Keith’s saves and the ‘wood work’..

The game is never won on paper… players turning up and giving it a go do ! What was great to see is the numbers playing week in week out, new players joining and enjoying the exercise in the December sunshine ☀

The football is great, but so is the post match social which involves tales of the cross field pass, the goal only MaGrada8 Sport Bare scored, along with useful tips and information about insurance, visa’s and the best bars !
