Colins Corner
Years ago the tourist board decided they needed a new slogan as the “windy coast” wasn’t really working so decided to cash in on the sun.
This morning 28 gullible immigrants/holidaymakers drawn to the area by promises of 300 days of sun played a 14 aside match using the big goals
Both teams lined up 6 5 2 with reds kicking off and the first 8 passes were probably the best ones of the match 😅
With the wind making mugs of everyone this was never going to be a classic.
Despite being advised that you couldn’t go in the area Boris lost his bearings but ref John gave him the benefit of the doubt.
Blacks scored first which seemed unlikely after 10 minutes given the tightly packed defences and distance to goal, Mark found space and there was little Keith could do to save it.
By now everyone probably had had at least one touch each but childhood images of jumpers for goalposts and 20 kids chasing after the ball just needed a bit of Benny Hill music to finish it off.
A second goal by Mark doubled blacks lead and Keith decided it was time for a change of keeper.
Reds started to mount a serious attack with Dave 🚖 plus Lilac Trees Terry and John interchanging passes around the blacks and when Steve just encroached into the box a penalty was awarded.
Up stepped John but somehow he put it close enough to Toni to save.
A bit more end to end play saw some great saves by Toni for blacks and Mick for reds, but Mark completed his hat trick giving blacks a 3-0 lead.
Further goals by Alvin (overhead height) and Bambi (man down) were disallowed for blacks and Dave 🚖 consolation for reds was also chalked off for encroaching by his team mate
In the end a mad game was played in ridiculous conditions, the ball with a mind of it’s own and quality sadly lacking but it was sunny
Men of the match
Mark with 3 tap ins plus Toni and Mick in goal, but the winner overall was the wind 😅
