Game 1 Match report by Colin
Thursday saw an 8 aside game 2 and Dave 🦊 should be congratulated for picking 2 well matched teams.
Its really difficult to wax lyrical about a game that was won 2-0 by Blacks with both goals coming from Mark, the first on the half hour mark.
Eddie in goal for blacks had the complete opposite experience from his last outing where he got back ache picking the ball out of the net, this time he was practically a spectator such was the good job by Mark G, Colin, 🚖 and Prak in front of him.
Dave 👑 was the busier keeper, keeping reds in the game, but unable to prevent Marks brace.
Ref John had little to do, though it was only when Mark G was signalled to come back on that any of his teammates realised he had been off for 2 minutes, not even sure what for???
It was another warm one, the pitch was well marked out, Paul mad dog was kept busy as YTS ballboy and we go again on Monday
Last game of the season is Monday 29th when we’ll discover who we’ve all got in the World Cup sweepstake by which time 13 of us will already be eliminated
Your Match 2 report by your virtual correspondent AI Addio
With less than 3 games to go to the last game of the season on 29th June, you would think that this game would have an end of season feel to it.
Far from it. 2 five a side teams battling for the ball and sometimes controlling it within the 3 touches an exciting 15 goal thriller was played out at the estadio del polideportivo in Benalmadena in near 30-degree heat.
You would think that, with 15 goals scored in an hour, the ball boys will have spent the time topping up their tans. Far from it, we had water breaks every 5 minutes so they could have a break…and Darren wasn’t even playing.
Blacks quickly rushed into the lead, courtesy of Martin, who was the most surprised person on the pitch when the ball rifled in the back of the net at several miles per hour.
Fez quickly equalised but Martin was on song and scored to make the score 2-1 at the first water break.
Your reporter then took over as the reds shot stopper, a task he failed to do spectacularly, Gary with 2 and Pete scored with replies from Bambi and Ton, made the score 5-3 at the second break.
Fez scored a quick hat trick at the start of the 3rd period to put the reds in front for the first time and Bambi with his second doubled the lead.
As the game was grinding to a close and with 10 players, 2 ball boys and the referee blowing through their collective backsides, Gary scored a quick couple of goals to take his tally for the game to 4, thus equalling Fez.
There was just time for the goal of the goal and a goal worthy of winning any game when Ton, the Dutch master, struck a shot from fully 20 yards into the top left-hand corner to make the final score Reds 8, Blacks 7.
Both teams, the Ref and the ‘spherical collection officers’ retired to the bar for copious amounts of Beer and Oxygen and to mull over a game played in the spirit of walking football and well reffed by Dave the fox.
