Colins corner
Monday was a warm one and another 6 aside game on a small pitch.
Teams were probably better matched with Blacks lining up with Steve in goal, Paul and Colin in defence and a midfield/attack of Keith, Jonny and Glyn
Reds were rotating their keeper between Martin, Han and Jim with š, Maj and Tommy making up the remainder
Dave š¦ was our duty ref for the game and again allowed play to flow.
The goalscoring got underway when Han gave Steve no chance 1-0 reds
Keith replied for blacks followed by Colin who again found himself in the attacking half thanks to that small pitch 2-1 blacks
The scores were levelled when a corner was worked across the box and Martin, unmarked drilled the ball home.
Han was again on the scoresheet to re-establish a reds lead and Maj, he with the tricky feet, worked some space and increased the lead further.
The trouble with small piches is that the goal area remains the same size and Tommy misjudged and was standing well inside his.
Keith stepped up and reduced the deficit from the spot 4-3 reds
But Jim (I think) in his last game of this visit scored the final goal of the game to end 5-3 reds.
To be fair we were all glad to hear the final whistle as energy levels had been zapped across the hours play
Report number 2 from our guest reporter, Dave the Owl
Game 1 kicked off with 7v7 , under increasingly warm sunshine as we now move into summer š„µ.
To ensure no one suffered dehydration, water breaks were taken every 10 minutes š° , which didnāt seem to break up the play too much !
Our referee for the day was none other than Alvin – which left a few of us wondering if this was a plan to ensure he stayed on the pitch for the duration , and he could now run as much as he wanted without being penalised š«©.
To be fair , he did a sterling job with the whistleš – watch out John ! The sides seemed well balanced , and the final score of 5-5 endorsed this !
Observations :
1. Paul stayed in goal throughout , although he wasnāt called on too much early in proceedings as Terry got his arse, body and any other bodily part in the way of any shot heading toward the blacks goal.
2. Fez hit the back of the net with a sublime lob over Daveš¦ in goal. I donāt understand why such clever play is now ruled out – it never used to be ! Still I wonāt argue š¤ since I was in goal , but ⦠!!
3. ā Sean did his very best to play a clean game – well , clean by his standards – while forming a slick midfield partnership with Steve , alias Rickšø.
4. ā Ken was Ken again – the goal poacher extraordinaire , bagging 2 more to take his tally way above everyone else put together . If Swfc donāt get Vardy on the cheap , Iāll be ringing the new US owners to tip them off about Poliās ace striker !
5. ā The sequence of scoring saw the blacks constantly taking a one goal lead , before the reds pulled it level. This happened throughout the game .
6. ā Canāt think of much else of note 𤠖 well there was one moment of magic from Fez , who despite carrying a massive , life-threatening injury to limit him to game 1 again , back-healed cleverly into the back of the net when yours truly was still in goal. If I donāt mention it , Iāll get grief from him on Thursday š.
7. ā Scorers ….Blacks :Fez 3 , Bambi , Martyn. Reds :Ken 2 , Sean , Dave š¦, Steve šø
