Slow game report by Dave

Game 1 players took to the pitch following the photo call.

A slower game for our members with the Blacks having 8 players and the Reds playing with 7.
The game began with some good play from both sides. Lilac Tree Terry barking out his orders to his team mates. Anyone in particular Tel ?
Dave Rabbit doing the same for the Reds from his position in goal.
The Reds went One Nil up with a nicely taken goal from Ken. He rounded the roundabout that is the Commander and placed the ball past Maddog in goal.
The blacks responded swiftly through Terry the villain.
1st qtr ends 1-1
The 2nd quarter also finished 1-1.
The fun in this quarter was Terry shouting to Bambi to look for space. Bambi simply looked up into the sky !
However, into the 3rd quarter, Bambi was to get his goal for the Blacks.
Followed quickly by Dave Owl and Graham 🍽️ also for the Blacks.
The Blacks now taking a healthy 4-1 lead.
In the final qtr, step up Ken. His touches throughout the game had rolled back his years. Drag backs and some good play. He was on form today.
Ken received a ball from Ton and controlled it. In front of him was defender The Fish and Commander in goal.
Ken disposed of The Fish by dropping his shoulder left and moving right. On his 5th touch Ken now had the roundabout in front of him. Moving into the goalmouth he again he dropped his left shoulder. The Commander obliged, leaving Ken to walk in his second goal with his 8th touch!
There was calls from a Black players. “how many touches did he have”? And “he was in the f***g area”, yes Bambi. Nevertheless the goal was awarded.
Smith the Rabbit pulled another one back for the Reds but it was all to late.
The Blacks running out 4-3 winners.
A fun game.

Fast game report by Colin

Monday was another warm one, game 2 was 8v8 and on paper it seemed evenly matched.

Like those annoying TV programmes we jump to the end and discussions in the bar where questions were asked by others

“Was that really the score?”

“What was the reason?”

Answers such as…

“We just didn’t string passes together”

“We were abiding to rule 3”

“We were waiting for them to have a player sin binned”

….. 1 hour earlier

The game settled into a passing game and everyone working out where they belonged on the pitch.

If pre-match practice shooting was to go on, the safest place for any spectator would have been inside the goal 😅

The first goal scored by Alvin was chalked off due to his 20m sprint to intercept the ball and blast past Steve in goal

As ever one team is happy with ref, the other team thinks he’s blind 🤔

When Mick tripped himself up 3m from goal and went to ground, in the Spirit of the Game, blacks believed the game to have stopped and Steve wondered out of goal and picked the ball up.

Ref John who is an stalwart of applying the rules decided that the obvious way to restart the game was……………… with a red penalty………….. what………….wait…………a players gone down……the games stopped…
..”Not if I haven’t blown my whistle” ” Hand ball” ” Penalty”

Up stepped Alan and scored 1-0 reds

Now Colin (your author) prides himself on his defending, he’s not so positive about his actual ball kicking abilities though, so when he took a kick in to Han who passed it straight back to him with very few options as to where to go, he decided back to Steve in goal was the best option……..

2 problems here, one he’s on the wing and therefore not in the middle marking Mick, two his pass back to Steve was underhit and off target, so he simply presented the ball to Mick who gratefully scored. 2-0 reds

Feeling sorry for themselves and still reeling from the overlooking of rule 3 blacks were simply falling apart.

Reds continuously attacked through Mick, Alan, Johnny and Martin who were being fed off the neat hold and release footwork of Maj and Mick rattled in his own personal tally of goals numbered 2,3 and 4.

5-0 reds and blacks were either chasing shadows or watching on, as a team they couldn’t string 3 passes together and never really troubled the reds goal and the game finally ended but not before Alan had sandwiched Micks 4 goals with a second of his own

We retired to the bar where the excuses flowed and the debate about whether referee decisions are the real reason we lose or not.

Anyhow your reporter is off now to spy on reds training session before we do it all again on Thursday
