There was a late team sheet submitted for both teams with a 5 aside game increased to 7 v 7 … this report may contain some actual facts to what happened on the pitch, there may also be some padding out by the author and some details may have occurred at different times during the game 🧐

The blacks line up

Eddie, Dave 🚖, Mercedes (special day more later), Mark 🎒& Martin – Mark 🐦 arrived and the teams sheets were hastily changed… In came Boris.

The reds

Prak, Fez, Steve, Lawrence & Han were joined by Kevo and Tim..

John was back as your match day referee…

There was a fast a furious start with the blacks dominating possession, however it was the reds who played some quick balls to the feat of Fez… however 3 guilt edge chances were put wide 😳

The blacks continued to dominate the game passing out from the back, Boris and Mark 🐦 combining with Mark 🎒Mercedes & Martin to fashion some half decent chances… Dave 🚖 played his part in numerous attacks playing 1-2’s from defence to attack..

Kevo had started in goal having returned from a nasty bout of flu & pulled off a number of good saves, Prak, Tim & Steve defended stoutly against a more agile attack keeping the score at 0-0.

The reds came back into the game with Lawrence & Han playing some good once touch football creating a few more opportunities, but Eddie made some fine stops. One imparticular Han received the ball from Lawrence and let a fierce shot goal bound across the turf…Eddie dived full lenght to his right pushing the ball round the post for a corner 👏

Neither team could break the deadlock until halfway through the blacks took a short corner and the ball found its way to Mark 🎒 he shot towards the goal and with a slight defection beat Tim.. 1-0

with time running out the game then swung in favour of the reds who were now moving the ball forward with purpose, Fez received a ball back healed it to an unmarked Tim… one touch to control and Tim smashed the ball home passed Eddie 1-1 it was like being at Elland road as Tim soaked up the adulation 👌

A quick throw in from Lawrence put Fez through on goal and he was able this time to beat Eddie and put the reds 2-1 up and it was looking likely to win the game…

The blacks looked for an equaliser in the final few minutes up popped Martin with a disputed some would say controversial equaliser with the reds claiming he had poked the ball home from inside the area…

John the ref turned down appeals and the goal stood 2-2..

It was a highly contested game with a lot of good football played by all the players and probably a fair result…. Some would say…

It was a special day for Mercedes reaching a mere 50 years of age ! We enjoyed cake and the Dutch contingent sang HbD !

Happiieeee birfday young lady hope you had a great evening celebrating at Tons 🍾🥂🥂🥂

So who claimed the M/WOM ?

⭐️⭐️⭐️ Tim 🎢 Fabulous performance after a long lay off with injury scored a great equaliser
⭐️⭐️ Boris 👨‍🦳 In a high tempo game kept his cool playing out from the back, making timely interceptions & almost scored
⭐️ Steve 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 A great game from the Welshman along the back line made numerous tackles to keep his team in it… could he be a late January signing for Wrexham ? We hope not but a big transfer move would increase the coffers (beer fund) at the Poli…

Well done everyone a good game followed by a few celebratory drinks for Mercedes ⚽️🍻 long into the afternoon extended by finding Des who’s back next week 👌 UTB… The pic shows how Dave 🦊 reacted to picking the teams advice 🫣🤣🤣🤣

Match 1 Report

Although kick off was delayed due to the plastic turf being cleaned, the Game 1 players took to the pitch on a beautiful sunny day. The Reds had 7 players to the Blacks 6 but the teams both looked strong on paper.
With some good goalkeeping saves and body stops by Ton in Black and Mike, Reds the 1st quarter finished Nil Nil.
Into the second quarter. A really good move by Blacks was neatly put away in the bottom right side by Rick.
Blacks 1 Nil up.
The Reds pushed for a goal with some classy passing but Ton stood strong in the Black goal.
Still the Reds pushed on and got their deserved equaliser.
The ball following a one two between The Owl and Graham was passed to Fish who took a shot on goal, to see the ball deflected into the net from The Scientist.
One each going into the 3rd quarter.
Both sides played some good football. Robert for the Blacks covered the pitch well and Our Star Ken was taking strikes at Ton from all directions. Surely the score couldn’t stay at 1 apiece?
Up stood Rick once more to score with a tremendous volley.
Blacks now 2-1 up. They began to stroke the ball around with confidence and then went 3-1 up through The Scientist. A ball was deflected into his path and with his tongue firmly stuck out calmly hit the back of the net.
In a moment of sheer madness by Ton, he ran out of his area, caught a deflected ball and rolled it out to Bambi. The Ref pointed to the penalty spot. Immediately the Blacks lost their discipline.
The Ref it has to be said had a great match, trying keep the game flowing. He could have cautioned some of the Black players who were surrounding him.
But due uo excellent reffering order was restored when The Owl stepped up to slot the ball past the still mumbling Ton.
But that still left the Blacks in the lead 3-2.
Game on. Even more so when the ball ping ponged around in front of the Black goal and Paulo stuck out a toe and placed the ball past still an enraged Ton.
3 apiece going into the last quarter.
Both teams were pushing for a winner and playing some attractive football.
In the dying minutes, the ball was played out of the Reds defence by The Gooner Fred to Ken up front. With simple ability. Ken moved the ball onto his right foot, looked up to see Ton advancing towards him and sweetly put the ball into the bottom left corner.
Reds 4-3
In the spirit of the game. The Ref immediately blew the whilst for full time.
Final score. Reds win 4 goals to 3.

Motm. Ken ⭐ rolling back those years showing us all how to play the ball.
