Report on Game number 1 by your AI correspondent
Game 1, played on the pitch nearest to the bar (what are they trying to suggest) was a cagy affair between the Reds and the blacks that was a salutary lesson on not wearing shooting boots.
Blacks created chance after chance with some slick passing moves, some so slick that even the blacks were baffled. Ken was unfortunate with some of his efforts going just wide, including one from a 50yard pass from yours truly that had the ref drooling.
Despite all of this, Reds created a lot of chances for themselves, Steve taking one in the second 10-minute half when H, in goa for the blacks, thought he was playing patacake.
The game was very even, both teams creating and then missing chances comprehensively. Surely someone must have moved the goalposts.
Early in the fourth half, a perfectly placed kneed pass by your correspondent, playing in black put Bambi, playing in red, through on goal, which he duly scored. Your correspondent did claim, however, that he was temporarily blinded by the reflection from Keefs boots.
2-0 to the reds.
The fifth and sixth halves were fairly even with lots of running into space from both sets of players and passes perfectly placed to where the players had just run from.
2-0 the game finished to the reds and the consensus of opinion was that the result was fair.
MOM for the blacks Ken and for the reds Boris
Colins chunterings
Before we get down to who scored against whom, today we welcomed back Walter our oldest player who joined Ken in game 1, our 2 octogenarians.
Along with H and Boris, our 4 oldest players today amassed over 320 years between them.
Ballboy/Photographer Frank was also quite taken with Keith’s new boots!
Over to game 2 we welcomed new player Darren from Cornwall who fitted into the faster game perfectly.
The imbalance in numbers of 7v6 in reds favour was probably the difference in the end.
Ref John adjudged Dave 🦊 to have entered the box, he claims a push in the back, but in the ref we trust. Dave 🦉 dispatched the penalty.
A mix up in the blacks defence presented the ball to Kev🌲who made it 2-0 reds
Good control and laying off by new boy Darren to Kevo resulted in a great shot that Paul tried in vain to stop but 2-1 it was
A fortunate ricochet presented the ball at Kev 🌲feet and with Daz out of his goal a 3rd red goal was inevitable.
With blacks pushing hard, good strength by Darren resulted in a great goal for the debutant
3-2 reds was the final score with the extra man the difference.
