Time until the Next game at Benalmadena Polideportivo
Match report by Geoff
Yet again on Thursday, due to late withdrawals, only the one 9 aside match instead of the two intended 6 aside games.
In view of this, the match was played on a slightly shortened half a pitch with smaller goals.
Both teams on paper looked evenly matched and so it turned out in what turned out to be an extremely rare goalless affair.
Despite no goals, both teams had numerous chances to score, thwarted either by good goalkeeping, or squandered attacking opportunities.
In the first session, Sean for the Reds was struck in the face by a goal bound blaster from teammate Laurence, the blow knocking him to the ground.
After taking some time out to recover, he was fortunate, despite wearing spectacles that they were surprisingly not broken, only suffering a small cut to his nose.
Outstanding for the Blacks was Alex, he made several sublime passes to Dazza whose goal bound shots were well saved by Sean, who by now had thankfully had recovered.
The last session was mostly dominated by the Blacks, who despite chances just could not find the back of the Reds net.
Laurence for the Reds always looked dangerous with the ball at his feet, having a deadly shot, as Sean can vouch for!
Likewise Keef and Nigel worked tirelessly in an endeavour to break down the Black’s defence, well organised by the Cab and Ian without much success.
FT: 0-0
No one better utter a word about Laurence whacking me in face with the ball. My wife is giving me enough shite every time I limp home after a game. There is no way Laurence’s shot was goal bound. I am 6ft 2” it whacked me on the side of my face from 2 meters away. That ball was headed for outer space. It’s not the first blow to the face I have taken but it did get my attention. I might have to bring an American football helmet with me next time. 🤪
