Match Report by Geoff

BLACKS ….5 versus REDS ….2

In the absence of Rory our super wordsmith and there only being one 10 a-side match yours truly was allowed to write the match report, therefore irrespective of any derogatory comments this, perhaps for one day only, is the best report you are going to get.

Due to the late withdrawal of TV Kev, there is no doubt his absence affected the balance of the Reds team.

The Blacks got off to a flying start by old stager and goal scrounger Ken within the first few minutes closely followed by Steve Mac following a dreadful back pass from octogenarian Walter.

2-0 to Blacks at first water break.

The highlight of the second session was Kevo accidentally blasting an intended pass into the sensitive part of Fireman Sam’s private parts leaving him writhing in agony on the ground much to the amusement of everyone.

This incident was then followed by Alan of karaoke fame miss hitting a shot which completely bamboozled Keef in the Reds goal, although someone was heard to remark this wasn’t really a difficult thing to do!

3-0 to Blacks at end of second quarter for a water break.

The 3rd quarter began with Crocodile Dundee scoring a flukey goal for the Blacks when the ball rebounded to him off the post followed by the goal of the game by Karaoke Alan from some distance giving Klaus in the Reds goal no chance.

On the 45 minute mark there was an almighty squabble on the edge of the Blacks penalty area, between octogenarians Walter (Reds) and Ken (Blacks) who had to be separated by teammates, for some reason Fireman Sam awarded the free kick to the Blacks when quite clearly it should have gone the other way. The whistle fortunately went for the end of the 3rd quarter with the normally docile Walter still irate and protesting the decision with Fireman Sam who quite clearly had been affected more than was first thought by Kevo’s shot into his nether region.

5-0 to Blacks.

At the beginning of the last session Breck decided to go in goal for the Reds despite his injured knee, this greatly improved matters with them scoring the only 2 goals of the half from the Owl and Bambi, indeed the former from Dave Owl ended up with Paulo in goal making a great double save only to then get tangled up in the netting along with the ball.

Not to be outdone, just before the end of the match, Paolo made yet another fantastic save again off the Owl punching it onto the crossbar which thankfully he caught on the rebound.

Man of the match was Welsh Steve undoubtedly the most improved player of the year who never put a foot wrong in defence with some terrific interceptions and passes to team mates.

Everyone returned to the balcony bar for refreshments with Ken and Walter now the best of friends.

Final score 5-2 to the Reds.
