Time until the next game at Benalmadena Polideportivo

Slow Match report by Geoff

BLACKS …..5 v REDS …..2

The so called slower 6 aside game was much closer than the score suggests due to some really excellent goalkeeping by Kevo and Sergei when sharing the gloves for the Blacks.

It is a pity that the same cannot be said for Bambi who started in the Reds goal letting in two quick goals within the opening minutes from Chris the salsa boy (sauce) from Sussex, the second of which followed a flowing move which he finished with some aplomb.

Whilst he may not know the difference between a sachet of brown sauce and sugar when dining in the aptly named Desperate Dan cafe in Fuengirola he mostly definitely knew how to find the back of the net in the opening minutes.

As a consequence team captain Rory had to forcibly remove the gloves from Bambi in the Reds goal who not surprisingly was disputing such a decision.

After the first water break ‘5 touch’ Ken got in the act with a fine shot to make it 3-0 and a few minutes later made it 4-0 to the Blacks with a deflected toe poke which match referee, H, after looking at VAR gave as an own goal despite Chris the HP Boy trying to claim it deflected into the net off him in an endeavour to give him an hat-trick of sorts. No such luck especially with referee H being well aware he had dodgy eyesight!

Then Bambi whilst skulking around the Blacks goal area and contributing very little to help his beleaguered teammates scored a simple tap in when Chris of HP fame now in goal passed the ball to Bambi in a Red shirt later claiming he thought he was wearing Black!

Get to Specsavers!  4-1 to the Blacks.

Then on around the 45th minute Rory scored a terrific goal pulling the Reds deficit back to just two, 4-2 to the Blacks.

Was this the fightback Rory was asking for?

Then just to spoil the script Dave of Black Cab fame from a free kick just outside the Reds goal area made a superb diagonal pass to old stager Ken who hit a terrific shot into the back of the Reds net. 5-2 to the Blacks.

Despite frantic attempts by Rory the Blacks held out the final 15 minutes to win 5-2 which genuinely didn’t reflect a really excellent game played in a  tremendous sporting spirit, including Bambi.

Then as is the norm most of us retired to the balcony bar for refreshments wishing our friends from Eastbourne a safe journey home later that night.
