Time until the next game at Benalmadena Polideportivo
Match report by Geoff
BLUES 7 versus REDS 4
Yet another excellent turn out at the Polideportivo by the Benalmadena boys resulted in ‘Keef’ yet again having to book the full pitch to allow two games to be played. In the high scoring ‘old farts’ game albeit played in a slower format as walking football was intended with perhaps less skill it was nevertheless a really enjoyable match to play in.
Bambi after his disastrous performance in his last match scored early to give the REDS the lead which didn’t last for long when the BLUES replied with five goals from SONIC (2) 🦔 and a hat-trick from the Crocodile 🐊 from Dundee who suddenly found his shooting boots after some recent poor performances.
Ken ‘K’ pulled one back for the REDS to score in successive matches for the first time, not bad for the guitar playing 78 year old. Goals from Mick🍒 and Dave 🐝 made it 7-2 before late goals from Boris and Bambi getting his second a real scorcher made the score more respectful for the REDS.
It was good to see Jim King aka ‘Elbows’ making a guest appearance for the BLUES and true to form still living up to his nickname before Ken ‘K’ took exception to his ribs constantly been pummelled, this necessitated ‘Keef’ as referee having to separate them before any handbags were thrown by the two 78 year olds. Classic, loved it.
Boris with his dodgy knee heavily strapped played well as usual in defence for the REDS and Bambi as only he can showed his verbal disgust when Martin 👨⚕️ playing in goal let in a simple shot which he should have saved. How some people have short memories, must be nice when you are perfect!
Then everyone went back to the balcony bar for refreshments and some splendid fish tapas and fries 🍟 curtesy of the Commander from the kitty.
It is rumoured that Pete the ‘Pirate from Penzance’ 🏴☠️ who is 60 next week will be putting some money over the bar on Monday to celebrate his birthday 🎂.
