Time until the next game at Benalmadena Polideportivo

Match 1 report by Steve C

Red Cherries 0 Lemons 3

Christmas Party day dawned on a blustery day at the Poli. Keith welcomed our visitors from Calahonda before everybody split into their allocated games.

In match 1 the reds got off to a bright start and squeezed the lemons hard in the first ten minutes. The lemons slowly got their act together and took the lead after 20 minutes following a mistake by the red defence. The game remained close until the 45 minute mark when Breck was put through and made it 2-0.

With five or so minutes left John made it three for the lemons. KDN called for a welcome time up in the middle of a rain shower.

Let the Festivities Begin…..

Kevo kicks things off with a rendition of a Kenny Chesney number No shoes, No shirt, no problem. Next up was Frank who was followed by James who did well in his audition for a Las Vegas residency.

The sing-a-long carried on until Keith and the Commander addressed the audience to highlight the mental health benefits of the WF fraternity, the momentous achievement in saving Colin’s life and a presentation to Bob on the eve of his imminent return to the UK.

Fish was on hand to photograph today’s celebrations and no doubt the finished results will soon be available on the WF website and WhatsApp group.

The karaoke maestro resumed festivities and for the next four hours there was a constant stream of chanteurs and chanteuse keen to entertain the assembled throng.

I’m sure all those present will have their own particular special memory of the evening’s ribaldry although the free flowing alcohol might blur things somewhat. For what its worth my own favourite was big Al’s version of Stealers Wheels “stuck in the middle with you”.

As darkness drew in, the well entertained crowd began to drift off home. However, I’m sure some stragglers remained to party-on!

I think we can all agree it was a superb day and our thanks must go to Keith and the Commander for organising the Christmas celebration. I hope we can do it again soon. Merry Christmas to one and all.

A report from Match 2 will follow shortly
