Time until the next game at Benalmadena Polideportivo
Match Report by Steve C
Red Cherries….2 Black Berries….3
Another full turnout for today’s game and Kevo took the warm up in his own inimitable style.
Keith gave a short update on Colin who is now back in the UK to continue his rehab. The recently used WF rules would continue today. In addition, Keith reminded players of the ‘spirit of the game’ ethos for today’s match. Keith would be playing and refereeing.
KICK OFF.
A cagey start from both sides as players tried to find some space to call their own. Midway through the first quarter a lovely pass put Maurice in on goal and his first time shot caught Mike in goal unawares as it curled low into the corner of the net.
Terry and Sean now arrived to play and Keith became ref. full time.
The game remained finally balanced throughout the second quarter until the reds got a free kick just outside their opponents box. Some quick thinking by Breck taking the kick quickly played in KDN who efficiently dispatched the second goal.
At half-time KDN, resting on his laurels, took the whistle from Keith and the blackberries set about getting back into the game. The reds defence was eventually breached but oops I can’t remember by who, anyway take a bow, I can include it next time.
Into the fourth quarter and the berries were well on top and drew level through a finely taken strike from Big Al.
The deadlocked game continued well past the hour mark, I think KDN was operating ‘the golden goal’.
Eventually a winner was scored as John, on his return, latched onto a mis-hit shot cum pass from Dave and calmly rolled it past the reds goalie.
No time for a kick-off as KDN blows for full-time. Handshakes all round and we’re off to the bar. Beer, nibbles and tapas courtesy of the Commander’s contacts behind the bar.
We’ll do it all again on Thursday.
