Countdown to next game at El Canadon

After the snow and ice had been cleared off the pitch…. okay it wasn’t that bad but it was a bit chilly… the match began.

Due to injuries Neil and Steve H agreed to share goal keeping duties for the blues and it has to be said both played well today. In fact so much so that the pinks were left wondering whether they had fallen foul of Fergiesque pre match mind games.

The scoring was opened dramatically by Steve McHugh. He gave Darren the snake eyes, showed him the ball, did a couple of step overs followed by a shimmy then smashed it past Ray. Or at least that’s how he described the goal later in the bar.

John equalised for the pinks then Steve H showed some classic centre forward play. He stood on Adrian’s toes – not once but twice. Then as Adrian was checking how many toes he had left he used his slightly bigger build to push him out of the way to turn and score from a free kick. Adrian now knows how the polar explorers feel when they get frostbite.

TV Kev equalised for the pinks but nobody has a great recollection of it. Kev please can you ask one of the film crews that follow you around to send us the tape.

And that was it. Two all – a fair result and a much better game played in the right spirit. It must have made the refs job much easier. Thanks again Steve L.

Special mention to the walking wounded (Neil, Steve H and Tony (Chopper) Waller who bravely turned out to avoid a cancellation. TV Kev also changed his dentist appointment.

One final point – good luck to Carlos for Saturday nights gig in La Cala. Break a leg amigo… in fact please don’t we need you back on the pitch.
