Time until the next game at Benalmadena Polideportivo

Match Report by Steve C : Geoff Scores at last!

The last beautiful day of September at the Poli was celebrated by the WF crew who greeted the return of Fish and yet another Dave (new recruit).

New recruit, yet another Dave!

Thankfully the warm up was taken again by Kevo. Boy does he like to get that belly button out.

Snap happy Keith eventually got round to taking the team photo for today.

KICK OFF

Both teams had rush goalies and the match quickly developed into a tight tactical battle.

After 20 minutes the oranges had somehow managed to grab themselves a two goal lead through goals by Graham and John.

The oranges then defended their lead tenaciously. However, goals from Eddie and a stunning tap-in by Geoff brought the scores level with about 15 minutes left.

With a large expanse of field to cover, the cry of “watch the running” resounded throughout the game.

The usual suspects were penalised, sometimes unfairly, by the ref who, in general, struggled to keep control of this game.

Brian grabbed what proved to be the winner with about 10 minutes to go for the lemons. The oranges subsequently spurned a few opportunities to get themselves on level terms.

Shots rained in on their goal and brave hearted Bob took one for the team by blocking a goal bound shot.

Dave playing his first game for 55 years (yeah) excelled in goal for the lemons during the last quarter of the match. Welsh Steve was put through on goal in the dying seconds but his effort just squirmed past the post.

FINAL SCORE

Lemons 3 oranges 2.

Off to the bar for refreshments where Geoff and Fish after a couple of beers struggled to balance the accounts. Our old friends did indeed return and received the usual warm welcome from the lads.

Back again on Monday to start all over again. See you then.
